If Zarya's shield (either on her or an ally) soaks up damage, it builds up Charge, which increases the power of her Particle Cannon. The idea when playing zarya is to keep shielding yourself and your allies so you can keep your damage high. If you time it right and manage your shields, you can cut right through the enemy.

Zarya is an off tank. Shield the real tank to charge your damage, then shit damage. Pick when you need someone more durable than soldier, but who otherwise fills a similar role while defending. For attacking, she can't flank, but she gives you another hero to sit on the cart and not die horribly.
Zenyatta is best with a group. Playing him alone at your own peril. You need someone to keep Widows, Tracers, and the other lot off. Otherwise, he's a more static Lucio that can tank bust with discord orbs and shit far more damage alone.

don't leap INTO the group, leap BEHIND them. If your team is being harassed by a sniper, or there's just an annoying support, you launch yourself at them and stick to them like glue until they die, then you leap back to safety. Or at least, that's my understanding of how to use Winston.

This. The whole "you can pick duplicate heroes" meme is quite literally killing the game. That and some grossly overpowered heroes like Junkrat. Its good fun when you are winning, but its not a game where you can lose and feel good about.
When I lose in starcraft, I feel alright about it because it usually was a balanced match and I know that I lost because he was just better than me. Unironic GG and onto the next match, more focused than before.
When I lose in Overwatch, I swear and feel frustration that I havent felt in any other game in my life because it feels like bullshit each goddamn time. That or my team is full of braindead retards.

You leap onto the enemy backline and kill the squishies from behind while your team pushes into the front
If they turn to kill you, use bubble and leap to get away.

Naturally it does and some of the defense heroes like Mei are nightmares if they know what they are doing. It also doesn't help that people will trickle into an area instead of grouping up for an attack. So everyone on the defense builds up their ultimate and if a group should form they are instantly wasted by a team who has all of their Ults ready.
