Hes very easy to play as long as you understand the simple concept of never engaging people from the front. His teleport is there for a reason, go into custom game lobby and practice out paths you can take with it to get behind the enemy.
You pretty much never want the enemy to see you until you are in their face blasting them for chunks of damage. He's a good example of a hero with really simple abilities but a shit ton of difficulty from sheer timing and map knowledge.

Only really good against explosives, and its going to die to those before it kills anything anyways. Against anything else its going to eat the healthpack after taking 10 damage.
I will occasionally put a turret on a small healthpack, but theyre so easily replaced with animation cancelling that I just save the packs for teammates.

I find Mercy significantly easier to play with both of those on default.
Flying to your beam target is something you cant do normally and you can often juke people with it.
And with the beams I can be holding down left mouse to heal and then hold down right mouse while still holding left to boost and just release right mouse to return to healing.

So, I'm used to freedom of speech in Counter Strike and Team Fortress, even on Valve servers.
Now, when I'm kinda frustrated, I feel free to express it. For example, when I get killed by this "DIE DIE DIE" bullshit, it occurred that I said something along the lines of "DIE DIE DIE, go fuck yourself, ffs." or "go die yourself - IRL:" For some reason people in this game seem to take stuff like this very seriously when it's obviously just childish banter. RMB -> Hook -> LMB (-> Melee) is your usual combo. Cast hook right after the bullets fly out to cancel the rest of the animation. Hold LMB while hooking to fire a shot before the stun wears off.
Hooks will sometimes bug on small heroes and pull them somewhere else on your screen or even behind you.
Soldier 76 is your worst enemy. He melts you down insanely fast, often just outside your hook range.
You can cast the heal while jumping or being knocked into the air.
Use RMB a lot for harass. It helps a lot in weakening a Reinhardt shield. Your ult also shreds his shield and kills him easily. Hook Reinhardt if he charges anyone, it will cancel it and then you shit on him. Hook also goes through D.Vas Defense Matrix.
While you do feed ult charge to enemies, you also help your healers a lot. Mercy builds up Resurrect incredibly fast when latching onto you. So if it's not a critical situation, let her heal you up all the way instead of using E.
Use corners and flanks a lot. People will focus you hard whenever you show yourself.
