How do I change level size in PCB?
Any general strategy for a deathsword?
Are there sex mods for DDA?
>>126092401
Hit = then gameplay options. Then change always gemerate small levels to "yes."
The general strategy is all about preparing for suffering.
I like pcb, but holy shit is this game plodding. Takes forever to get anywhere and do anything, even with macro and autopicker.
How's sil?
Crypt or Elf?
Also how hard are the new Slime Pits?
>>126094705
Slime Pits are hellish. Do you have rCorr?
>>126094705
>Elf
Crypt is much easier than either and should be your destination from those three.
>>126094801
Nope, although shouldn't it be doable if you have enough patience for backtracking and stairdancing?
I mean it's not permanent anymore.
>>126094854
Eh probably, might still do Elf first to get some more use out of Oka before I ditch him for TSO.
>>126095016
Well if you're 15-runing then of course you save crypt for TSO piety but extended sucks balls so I don't recommend it.
Elf is just really dangerous and Slime Pits too, getting hit with malmutations and shit while you're at -30 corr is a real bitch.
>>126095247
I actually rather like extended.
What I cant stand is Lair and it's branches.
Incursion keeps crashing when stealthed monsters attack me, what do?
Our team's goalkeeper, Cast into the Abyss, got the most saves in tournament! This means that the /vg/ roster in the "real" cup will have one of our players as their goalkeeper.
Here is a strawpoll with the following 3 choices:
Cast into the Abyss: Our starting GK
Sigmund: Got the second most goals in the tournament and was a freak of nature.
Serpent of Chaos: A lot of assists and Team Captain.

>>126095540
Thank god, finally someone that agrees with me. Thought that'd never happen in /rlg/.

Orrrrr maybe see what's up with the Minotaur. Yeah.
>>126097829
Sigmund is probably the best known character/concept from the games in this thread, other than @
Got Abyssal Rune, where next?
>>126095540
My only issue with extended is that some things just don't plain work (poison) and the monofocus on demons.
I think it need some entirely new shit myself.
>>126101759
Well yes. A lot of the classes/gods are only meant for 3-4 rune games.
>>126101646
What other runes you got?
>>126101854
Lair branches runes, Vault Rune.
>>126101973
Whoops, didn't see them on the screenshot. Maybe dip into Crypt and Tomb, Pan if you're risky.
>>126101759
>>126101850
This is one of the main reasons I don't play DCSS. I don't like how most of the strategies are not really viable. 3-runes are stupid. 15-rune is the real game IMO, and any build that can't realistically achieve that is not worth attempting or having in the game at all.
I guess I didn't think this one through
Guess this run is over
>>126102193
I memed the Slime Pits instead :^)

Yup. Gonna go hit some stuff in abyss until I die or get back to full piety I guess.
>>126103116

>>126102321
Five runes is far more fun than fifteen. Thus, five is the real game. Really, though - I understand what you're saying, but why force yourself to play through the most tedious parts of the game when you can literally just skip it and play more of the fun stuff? Sure, sometimes I have a really fun character that I want to play more of and I'll do extended but I'd rather be playing more vaults or depths. It's not any kind of competition, and you're not a better player for getting fifteen versus five - the difficulty is the highest in D:1-10, and spikes again around V:5 and Zot.
tldr pan a shit
>>126103232
>>126103571
I really should top playing Crawl when drunkeven if it makes the tediousness tolerable.
If my braincells were focused, I would have just dug a wall to the side instead of sitting that teleport out.

>>126103603
>tldr pan a shit
Only because they made the game that way.
What if you couldn't melee everything in the game to death with 14 points in a weapon skill? Maybe then it would be obvious why having 12 runes that all resist the same things are boring.
What if you didn't get all the consumables and a billion exp to dump into your defenses so that monsters could still be dangerous without relying only on torment and hellfire?
Really this all goes back to the fundamental problem of DCSS, that you can't both want every game to be winnable and expect to challenge both MiBe and MuMo.

OoDs store the position as a floating point and steers every turn by shifting its direction vector by 33 degrees towards its target. In other words, if they're a few tiles away from you and travelling at roughly a right angle, they'll steer at an angle that creates circular motion.

>>126111683
It's fine, although I'd prefer it seamlessly and borderlessly make one with the main window.
Roguenexus has something like that.
Plus of course with the windows you have more customization, some people prefer to have other info visible at all times than this.
>>126111775
You mean you actively searched for the tournament where /rlg/ placed shit/10 and dck was learning webtiles, instead of the next one where he leaded the team to victory? Am I getting this right Implojin?
So... My STR went to 18/*** when I got to level 20 in PCB, did I mess something up? Or is it some sort of curse thing?

I sometimes wish ADoM were open source.
I've been training a lvl 1 orcish mage by using magic missile over and over in the little island at Terinyo. I got lucky with a wand of wonder so when I get hungry I go and buy supplies and Munxip's shop using a ice bridge.
I'm at +10 spell efficiency right now, and if I have good knowledge the cost is 6 pp. But I'd really, really would like to know how long until I reach 4 pp and how much the damage/range is going to grow.

The rations at munxip's shop are really not that expensive, I've been using the gold I had since the beginning. And you can always go and bolt Hotzenplotz to death for a quick few thousand gold. His bodyguards also usually carry some, but it's usually much less than Hotzenpĺotz proper.

It's not gonna shove you over and fuck you in the ass cause that's what you're doing to your fun all by yourself. already. There's a million things I used the mouse for and now there's nothing there
And where did the menu go?
To recapitulate:
I'd just come back from the outlaw settlement with a bandit corpse, having killed hotzenplotz. So I figured I'd go back to terinyo for the gold and amulet, plus a bit more magic missile training in the island. I made sure not to accidentally kill anyone with the missiles.
I pick up the rewards, resume training, and out of nowhere Tywat Pare uses my ice bridge and attempts to kill me to death. I'd just bought the Bless spellbook and since it wasn't one of my brightest moments I thought blessing him could turn him neutral. I was wrong, so I attempt to use my Teleport spell knowledge to get out of the island and espcape to the CoC at the expense of some hitpoints since I'd wasted all my PP. I failed to notice how low I was on health and this happened.
On top, the amulet of order had me at like half health from the burns.
I think I'll take a break from ADoM for a good week or so.

Seems like I die doing completely stupid shit rather than the actual monsters. First I descend into lava from tornado, now this. And both times I was practically done with the game. 15 runes with tornado dude, 6 with this most recent one.
>>126146194
TRJ is one bad motherfucker. Doubly so without rCorr.
On the bright side, you won't forget it next time.
>>126146765
TRJ died like a little bitch to a bunch of shadow creatures and bees. I died on slime: 5 because I didn't want to walk an extra 30 tiles to the next staircase so I could go back down and kill a few more blobs. There weren't even enemies in my LoS. I don't think I'll do extended anymore. I always get too bored and do something like this. Truly though, I found out that doing all your dungeon runes and zot without rMut is pretty easy. I was only mutated 5 times, and cured most of the garbage muts.
>>126147320
The mut thing includes abyss too. This was trunk so I had to deal with mutation dudes with LoS shenanigans.

HOW DO PEOPLE GET PCB TO LOOK LIKE THIS
>>126149206
Congrats friend. One of my first was a gargoyle too. How did pan treat you? You'll only feel when it was a truly fun character.
I may have been blasted down to double digit hp by a storm wyrm, and I may have spent forever on that floor because where is the special feeling I can't find it, and I may have been lucky that Glaurung sort of flailed ineffectually at my 200 ac instead of vomiting fiery death, but I did it.
So this is what it's like to have resists.Only light, nether, chaos, disenchantment, and blindness to go!
>>126104574
Don't get me started on Torment and Hellfire.
"Half your HP is gone. No reason other than the enemy felt like it."
"This attack is fire++, no resistance helps against it."
Flayed Ghosts are infinitely more interesting than torment, as your health is basically fucked so long as they're in sight, but when they're gone you're fine again.
I wouldn't mind if Torment was only castable by the big bosses or Pan lord, but all Greater Fiends + some other things is too much of a pain.
Oh I forgot, this is DCSS. My knowledge pails in comparison to the almighty game devs so my complaints are not even valid.
>>126150817
Are you gonna pack the heavy armor and stab things too? Think about chei, but you don't have to go with him even if that's the case.
If not, take sif for sure.
>>126138663
at one point discopan had a guaranteed disto katana
>>126151431
A lot easier than I expected actually, spamming portal projectile pretty much did the trick. The only time I was close to dying was when part of a room got blown away by a demon and I didn't realize the hellfire island clusterfuck could still hit me out of my fog of vision as I was spamming heal.
Other notable OH SHIT moments were in Cocytus when I got low against Antaeus and his 4 shitty freeze demons in melee range and didn't realize I had blurry vision. Thankfully I had blink memorized, cast that and wanded myself a tele.
Also getting excommunicated TWICE for accidentally killing my summons, once for blowing them up with firestarter and the second I don't even know what happened, pan lords is just like everything is exploding with freezes or on fire.
>>126152221
How awful torment/hellfire will be for your particular character is chosen on character generation. If you're an undead, take a god that helps with torment, cast lich form or have enough rN, torment won't seem so bad. Hellfire is basically a check to see how shit your HP modifier is. Irresistable 30 damage is much worse when you have 174 vs. 249 HP. Both are an exercise in LoS management. I do wish that there was more variety in endgame crawl, but the PC always ends up with god tier defenses and it seems like it'd be hard to come up ways to threaten that.
>>126151431
My first was a Gargoyle as well. My second ironcially was a formicid fighter.
Tower Shield of Reflection, +9 Exe axe, Diamond armour, and Lich form. I didn't even feel the pain from no teleport.
>>126153159
>the PC always ends up with god tier defenses
Eh.
>>126153159
>If you're an undead, take a god that helps with torment
You wot m8?
>>126153389
I think I remember having some crazy Qazlel game where I had Formicid and +18 shield of the Gong in an older version. Or maybe it was mino I forget, anyway that shit was fun. Literally nothing made a dent in my HP while I just clouded the entire dungeon to death.
>>126146194
I splatted a FoFiFum of Oka thinking I could just dig inside the acid walls and kill TRJ in a bottleneck /\/ corridor.
Five turns in I realized that TRJ was actually doing LESS damage than the walls that surrounded me and that the only exit was blocked by her.
Don't fuck around with slime walls. Even with Rcorr they're nuts. Not even yellow dracs are safe.
>>126153452
I meant relative to what a monster might have. Its a big issue with crawl. Monster and PC are pretty even for a portion of the game, but PC will always drag ahead due to their defenses skyrocketing along with a few other factors. Compare an ancient liches 20 AC/10 EV to a PC's at that stage of the game. Even a hell sentinel only has 25 AC/5 EV.
>>126153743
Sorry, I should have formatted better. Basically you can invalidate torment in a large number of ways.
>>126153159
My only concern is that Lich form basically becomes mandatory or stone body (I think that helps with torment). If you worship Evy then your Piety goes down like a rock with heals constantly and Zin needs vit to help with Torment.
Or hell, getting rN. That should take the bite out of Torment more than the meager amount it does.
I just think that any concept should be able to beat the game with 15 runes. Some should be easier, but I shouldn't be told "lol die" when I bring a poison mage. I should be able to make poisons so vile that even the dead fear it.
>>126154237
That goes against how crawl works though. In the early and mid game, you can afford to put all your eggs in one basket and work your way around whatever your thing doesn't work on. But you always diversify your character once you have the experience so that they can deal with literally anything. Your poison mage will eventually pickup melee and diversify their conjurations into other areas to cover their weakness. I do agree that poison should get something other than Parrow in the lategame though. And lich form/statue form are hardly mandatory. There are so many other ways to deal with torment that don't involve taking that many levels in magic. There is a reason TSO is the default postend god.
>>126154163
I agree that monster balance in extended is largely a joke, but I don't think that it's because "the PC always ends up with god tier defenses".
There are plenty of combinations that end up with middling defenses by what would be the end of a 3 rune game.
In my experience it's more often the culmination of a player's offenses and utility abilites coming fully online that breaks things, rather than PC defense outpacing monster damage. Half of the threats in extended are specifically built to be threats that bypass AC/EV.
What's far more relevant to extended is having things like haste, /heal wounds, ?fog, swiftness, apportation, etc., available to completely neuter what would otherwise be dangerous situations.
>>126154237
Postend isn't mandatory, which is why the devs never bother to balance it.
You only do it if things line up for you. If not, oh well, get your three roonz and win.
>>126154237
>My only concern is that Lich form basically becomes mandatory
#justtavernthings
>>126154237
>If you worship Evy then your Piety goes down like a rock
Good news, literally no one worships Evy so you're fine on that one.
>>126154946
You have to admit that it is a pretty large contributor to crawl's shitty endgame though. Eventually you burn all the enchant scrolls you have on something and end up with enough defense and resists to take on most everything in a melee situation with little risk, barring something like a felid or octopode. I agree with your points though.
How do I submit an enemy idea for crawl?
I have a concept and sprite already made.

Touhou crawl when?
Should I train Polearms, or just work towards Firestorm once I get Ring of Flames up? I'm a MuFE, just finished Orc, have cleared Lair down to 6, and Dungeon down to 12. Lair branches are Swamp and Spider.
Current strategy is Fireball spam when facing anything at a distance, and a wall of Conjured Flames to poke at enemies behind if they manage to close . If they're brave enough to actually enter the inferno, I just douse them with Sticky Flame and continue poking them.
I'm looking for a line-AoE spell to cover all my options, but so far the only fire-based one I've found is Bolt of Magma; my Fire+Conjuration is so high that it's at 12% failure even without any Earth at all, but I believe the spellpower will suffer because of 0 Earth, so it's not ideal. Is it good enough anyways?Note: I haven't actually found a book that contains Firestorm yet, but based Xom shall surely deliver.

Jesus christ how horrifying. Firestorm will take too long to get online before you really need it. Besides, fireball is more than enough for most of the dungeon if you get its damage up. I'd rather get some melee to support yourself. Hopefully you'll find a bolt spell that isn't magma, but it wouldn't be the worst if you have to use it.

well, vehumet is the god of Michael Bay films, and the most ka-blah mage background in crawl if Fire elementalist, and if you have high Fire magic then vehumet is very likely to offer you firestorm, which does indeed have a hellfire element.
>>126162142
Infinite charges of HW, haste, invis, dig, teleport, all bolts, paralyze and enslavement aren't impressive? You can fire off literally 15+ bolt in a row without breaking a sweat, something a mage could NEVER do. This isn't even counting how utterly absurd stuff like paralyze and digging are when you have infinite charges.
>>126162410
>infinite
is this true?
>>126162461
It is basically true, yes. He gives you recharges in exchange for mana, hunger and piety. But it takes so little piety and scales so well with your mana that you essentially have as many charges as you can use. Once you get a rod and some of the other evocables, your charge count will always be near max.
welp, I got the staff of wucad mu and the book of annihilations + shatter. Looks like it's time to switch to makhleb and get to work on some megazigs. Maybe I'll remember to screenshot the skills when they're maxed this time
>>126162673
Whats chei penalty for leaving?
>>126162461
Basically yeah. If you wear an amulet of faith, you can basically recharge whenever your mana gets full and come out ahead.
Also he gives you rods, and all staff acquirements are guaranteed rods, so you can blow your recharge scrolls to create an fairly sized arsenal that you can rotate through. The supercharge is just a bonus.
>>126162142
It's not a big deal since you'll have way more evocables than you'll know what to do with anyway.
>>126163516
Even without faith you can recharge enough to have a good supply of charges. I even had that "wands take MP" mut and still have enough mana to keep all my wands at full. Even recharging with low mana still gives you a lot of charges. He is just busted.
