His lantern is something that was initially the coolest part of thresh's kit. He can save allies, woah! But now what's the key part of his kit? The hook into flay. And it's a helluva long cc chain. If you ignore the fact that Death Sentence is one of the longest ranged basic abilities in the game, the stun from his chain and the knockback, AND the slow for 2 seconds after if he's level 6, means you basically have to dodge the hooks.
Now, what could you compare thresh to. Blitzcrank? Again, ignoring that thresh has a larger range on his initial cc, Blitzcrank can stun you for 1 second, then knock you up for another second. Compared to Thresh's ult alone, which is a near-stun for 2 seconds, that seems like it's a bit disproportionate.
What about the damage? Surely that's what blitzcrank is better in. Well, no.

Obviously, braum loses in the damage category.
What about CC?
Braum's comes to a total of about 3.25 seconds, if his passive procs and he gets his ult on top of the same target.
Thresh has a 1.5 second stun and a 2 second near stun. Even if you ignore the knockback on his flay, thresh wins again.
Obviously, the benefit to Braum isn't his cc but his sheild and buff. But still, in all aspects but ally-buffing, thresh is the clear dominant champion.

I used to build Manamune Taric sometimes just for giggles, but it's pretty ass on him because it takes forever to stack.
If you're playing solo lane Taric, maybe it will work.
In that case, full build would be something like Manamune, Iceborn, Dead Man's, Boots (Tabi or Mercs depending on comp), then two armor or MR items depending what you need. Primary items to fill those last slots would be Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage, Randuin's, maybe Banshees if you have to doublestack.
Sunfire was always okay on Taric top but it's hard to fit in with Iceborn rush being mandatory.

If we're counting reworked items as new items they are amazing on her. Botrk now has attack speed which makes her dangerous as fuck, and runaans can crit now. Kindred is better than ever.
If we're talking only about new new items though, rapid fire cannon is really good on her, I'd take it in every build. LD's Regard is also good. None of the other new items are that good on her though.

Yeah, it's pretty hilarious how and why people complain about her. The idea is prety great, hell some of the concept art is pretty great too. She still has potential, but then again, so does Diana, and she hans't had justice done to her yet as far as skins go (Diana is also a great idea, but a combination of her colors + certain detials make her looks extremely unattractive most of the time).

Tiamat right now is better during lane phase, really. No passive cleave means you can still control the waves in your favor.
Rushing it into Hydra immediately is also not completely neccessary. You can go Tiamat/Another damage item/Hydra.

AP Rango was stupid good before they nerfed his roar. This wasn't some memebuild like blue ez, it actually worked regardless of player skill.
Basically, spam the ability until you get ferocity charged up, and just keep spamming. Great damage, AoE, resistances, and empowered was something ridiculous like a 15% max health heal. Nothing could lane against him.
