So after reading this absurd shitstorm I felt like I needed to mention something about media work in general. It's a rule of thumb, a bit simplified, but you can generally count on these things to be fairly close to reality;
When you're a really good journalist and can adapt to difficult conditions, you often end up working overseas to cover the world's major events.
When you're a good journalist and tend to remain professional, you often end up covering politics or economic news.
When you're an ok journalist or occasionally slip up in interviews, you often end up covering everyday news like accidents or fires.
When you're a pretty bad journalist or a bit slow on the side, you often end up covering local news, and what happened to that poor cat that fell into an elevator chasm.*
When you're a shit journalist or pretty dumb, you often end up covering sports.
When you're really the bottom of the barrel, the kind of person that literally no media outlet wants to ever deal with, and you may very well have failed to graduate any kind of college education, you sometimes look around and realize you might as well try your luck at being an e-sports journalist.
Think about this the next time you read people like "Thorin", "Josh Raven", and "Richard Lewis". I'm happy our new media forms have enabled even unprofessional shits to find a purpose to their life. Because I think everyone should have that chance.
Keep it up, boys, you're giving the most abjectly immature and incompetent 40 years olds of our society a way to remain optimistic about life, and that has to count for something. You're important. You are.
