For those unaware, I had /v/ decide my party in my playthrough of the FF1 GBA remake.
After the party was revealed to be pretty crap, I decided to do a LP of sorts to see if it was possible for me to finish

I didn't really like P4 myself when I played it when a friend tried to push it on me. Then I played SMT4, after which I checked a plenty of the pre-P3 games, and I find them more fun and interesting.

Persona is a subseries of SMT. All 5 games in the Persona series are very anime. The first one less so than the other 4. Some demons can have tsundere-ish attitude, but they don't really have anything to say in the story. They're just monsters you can recruit to be your party members.

Digital Devil Saga is a great place to start. It doesn't need stupid flavor of the month skittle hair girls to keep it interesting. It's also slightly shorter and easier than Nocturne and Strange Journey, so you can decide if you want to go further. It's also duology so make sure to look for the second game if you enjoy the first.

It's called Sunken Shrine, even though the Sunken Shrine uses the Chaos Temple theme, but Chaos Temple was only used on the first floor, so really Chaos Temple should be Underwater Shrine and Underwater Shrine should be Chaos Temple.hope you understood

Considering things would be basic and there's no commands outside of attack, magic, Item, and run, the pool would be limited, and we'd have to look more at ff3s job pool as opposed to ff5's.
The few I can imagine are
>Pirate -> Viking
As opposed to the thief being a faster fighter, this would be much slower, but also much tankier. Similar to ff3 it would wield Axes and Hammers and prioritixe making each hit hurt instead of hitting a lot of times.
>Evoker -> Summoner
Perhaps the Soul of Chaos areas could grant you summons, superior to black magic, but harder to obtain, You'd start with only Chocobo, and the summons would be the same as Ff3 (perhaps a second trial to earn Bahamut as a summon?)
Alternatively, add Branching promotions to create replay value
Fighter could become a knight (Tank), or a warrior (Damage).
Black Mage could Become a Magus (Pure b. Magic) or Dark Grey Mage (lv. 7 b. Magic, lv. 5 w. Magic)

The problem personally is that it makes it too easy. I get the NES being a bastard of a game but making everything a mindless cakewalk a bit too much for me.
Personally I'm more of a fan of the PSX version "Normal Mode" myself since it' basically the NES that looks better and all the bug fixes.
