I'm fine with biased RNG in games. Make it feel like 1 in 200 but curb it if it it's possible to detect grind.
For instance, a 1/100 or 1% drop. If I'm grinding it out and don't get it out of those 100 (or sooner) attempts (due to sample size) I feel like I wasted my time. If the game can determine that I'm actually pursuing this and silently skews the odds so maybe it increases by 0.5% each time or something while still letting me feel like it was 1/100 I'd be happy.

According to VLR, Sigma lost his arms and eye "trying to save a young woman". Am I the only one who thought the tie to VLR was really disappointing? I mean, he wasn't even trying to save Diana (or Phi), he was trying to save Q-team who ended up dying anyway. Then Mira stabs Phi with the virus for no reason other than deus ex machina and it's just... really shitty

I think most of the difficulty through the entire series was just getting information.
Some rooms in ZTD start you off with nothing obvious so you're stuck actually checking every little thing and then sometimes you get small ruts where you can't find out where to apply what little information you had.

First figure out the 1-12 numbers system by intuiting things like a moon must be 3 since that's the only one where multiplying it once goes over five but multiplying twice doesn't go over twelve. That should get you all the rest except three of them, and you get those through trial and error.. Multiply together all the numbers in the hologram using substitution, it will be a five digit number. Put those five digits in to the converter to get the four digit answer.

I only did two tests on that board thing and then found the answer to the rest with the holobook.

Since the book had you multiply things, I figured dubs and trips had to be low numbers like 2 or 3. Flower being 7 and Star being 5 as a lucky guess for me but I could've unconsciously just counted the "petals" and the points on the star.

you're probably only familiar with base-10 which is our normal counting system. when I'm counting something and I reach 9, if I want to count 1 more than 9, what happens? there isn't a number after 9, so what I do is add a digit to the front and start over again at 0, which is what we call 10. the value of 10 could be represented with another symbol if we were in a base-11+ system, usually represented by "A" in computers (base-16 aka hexadecimal)

Instead, the most obvious thing ever happens (even obvious in VLR), and a twin we hadn't seen or heard of in the first two games was the villain (Delta), other than very indirectly (Brother).
Heck, even ? at the end of VLR didn't do anything and wasn't figured out (I was fairly sure it was going to turn out that ? was Gab, or Blick Winkel. Blick Winkel would have made perfect sense, because, if you recall, no primary consciousness at all was inhabiting him (so the observer/parasite took over) at the time, and ? being an 'X-factor'. Gab would have made some sense, since he's the only one granted free reign in the shelter and able to see and influence everything that happens (no bracelet to put him to sleep).
I also figured that when they were saying that someone who could use the quantum computer could see all possibilities and essentially act as a God, they were hinting at the player being that entity.
Clover and Alice never fucking showed up so we don't fucking know what happened to them.
Lastly, they never averted the actual fucking issue.
Where my Trepidation brothers at? ZTD's version was pretty good, kept the feel without having that spine tingle.

It was just too easy overall so nothing really stopped you for more than 3-5 seconds per step as you just slapped everything into its obvious places.
I also got annoyed that almost every room had an item that was constructed by simply combining two or three items lying around. It's Delta. Delta is watching the entire story across multiple histories unfold through his glasses, processed by the quantum computer. He selects what histories to see based on which choices the people made, and he's also there physically in each timeline to mindhack them to make those choices they never would have made themselves, which they needed to (like Diana picking Q team). You are playing as Delta seeing all the histories through the various cameras in the shelter. You are Delta.

Alice and Clover were frozen to be revived in 2074, the 2074 of the outbreak. They're not gone though since their bodies are still frozen in the 2029 when the outbreak didn't happen. Except they were presented like shit this time, and the entire thing was basically 'wasted potential, the game'.
There were so many cool things they could do with SHIFT and the transporter. Like that Mira thing, or different aspects of themselves coming to completely different conclusions about things and clashing, and so forth.
Instead we just had the straightest plot ever with a wimpy ending that didn't even resolve the fucking problem and everyone is still going to die horribly in god knows how many realities they have to jump through until they find the terrorist.
I never had that mind=blown moment like in Ever17 or Remember11, the setups were mediocre, and it was generally quite wimpy. The only reason I'm so fucking disappointed is because he has some really interesting and unique ideas that had alot of potential, and some were even set-up for (esp. Mira being killed by an alter-ego), but wasn't used in lieu of a cop-out.
Heck, Mira randomly discovers she has a heart in the fucking ending text after spending the entire game and every route being a homicidal maniac, then goes back in time just so she can be murdered by herself. Brilliant.

The trick for the Heart and a couple of the other puzzles like that is to use the more restrictive pieces first (biggest, most white, etc.). If memory serves, there's only two spots the huge piece can really go without making the bottom impossible to cover, same with the second largest piece. From there, it was really easy.

Phi went through mostly the same jumps that Sigma did, in the VLR timeline. Remember the A B C D E chart? I don't have it right now but it explains all the jumps that they BOTH make.
At the end of the outbreak ending in ZTD, Phi will at some point between Jan 1 2029 and April 13 2029 go to Akane's headquarters and get frozen in the pod, but before she does, her consciousness jumps back to the END of VLR where Sigma Sr has also jumped up and instructed no one to tell Kyle what happened.
The Phi in the pod is her original consciousness from 2029 who is about to be frozen to be revived in 2074 to participate in the AB game and learn her powers.

The entire The Hope of Two line felt like the apex of the game. Best acting, best character interaction, most powerful emotions, and one of the biggest turning points for the events that followed.
So let me get this straight, based on the after-game notes, Mira decides to go back in time to stop herself from murdering people with Eric, while Sean stays behind (since only two people can go).
Ostensibly, Mira's first murder victim was ironically herself. There's no other explanation for the lady being so understanding of a crazed serial killer while bleeding out on the pavement and having your heart ripped out. There's even a part of the game that Eric says that Mira reminds him of his mother. He also has quite the murderous temper when put under pressure, especially if Mira isn't around, just like his father.
So basically, Eric is his own father, Mira the mother. Probably even crazier than the YU-NO subtle twist where one of your newborn daughters went back in time, became a prostitute to survive on her own, lived for 70-something years, then finally met the protagonist and doinked each other not knowing their true relationship.
