I wouldn't say they are the saviors of FF, but I do like the attitude SE has taken over the past 3 or so years, it's made them really re-evaluate themselves, and Tabata makes sure people who have talent get rewarded, and staff can nurture their skills, not relying on senior staff to take care of everything.
Plus there is something oddly cute about a panda faced dev, he looks so tired, but you can tell he enjoys his job, and those type of people make the best games.
It's kind of crazy to how much detail he has the staff bring out the feel of being on a journey with people. The thing I am most looking forward to is the camp events along the way, where you can shack up with other people and just have fun with your friends.
That, and trying out the menagerie of weapons Noctis has, which will probably require lots of time scouring the land to find them.
And the let's plays will be hilarious, there are gonna be so many game overs from people misunderstanding the battle system by not utilizing their bros and killing themselves with magic spam, of that I have no doubt.

First final fantasy I'll buy in 15 years. Kind of excited, but I'd really like to see more of the battle system with a full party. It was enjoyable as Noctis in the Platinum demo, but I could see it being annoying with the cast running around auto-battling or whatever.

We only know the premise and about 1 hour worth of the starting story
Game starts with Chapter 0, we don't know what this is but they said it is straight into a battle
Then Chapter 1 starts with a cutscene of Noctis leaving Insomnia so he can go to Altissia for his wedding with Luna, he sees Regis off, then gamepaly starts when they are in the Lucis wasteland area and the car breaks down, they push it to hammerhead and Cidney fixes it, you get some quests, you keep going then you get to a resort like area called Galdin Quar, can do some stuff here, they go here because tehre was a ferry they would take to go to Altissia but when they get there the service isn't up, they then encounter Ardyn who says some crytic things to them and leaves, they decide to spend the night, next morning they read in teh paper that Insomnia was invaded and Noctis is completely caught off guard by this, they then speed back to Insomnia in the ar and you see airships all heading intto the city, they get there but there is a blockade preventing them to get inside, they then looking onwards from a hill by a bridge at the kingdom reminiscent of the FF1 hill scene in the opening act.
This is when game proper starts, they decide that since they were going to Altissia they should just go there, on the way they get a message from Luna who tells them that she is in Altissia and she made it out alive of Insomnia, and that she has something for them, so they go back throuh Lucis wasteland, through Galdin Quay, eventually to Cleigne and then to Caem, from Caem which is a coast short area they take a boat to get to Altissia, that is when the Altissia/Leviathan sequence happens and all hell is breaking loose
That's about as far as we can tell
