At that point you might as well argue that Bravely Default is nothing like Final Fantasy because of the Brave and Default mechanic, which would just be ridiculous to claim.
But FF15 is not just changing an aspect. It's throwing out just about everything, or rather, building on aspects from other spinoffs that had already thrown everything out the window. Which was always fine since they were spinoffs. Thing is though, FF15 is no longer a spinoff for some reason. And yet people like you desperately tries to defend it and argue that it's very much like regular Final Fantasy games anyway. Even though the spinoffs were never even intended to be. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X to death, and I'm going to love this.

FF1, 2and 3 were TB, pure turn based but they all had differences in their individual systems, FF1 has you choose four jobs out of 6 and later you advance those four to master versions, FF2 had you with preset characters and you advanced a character by doing different commands over and over to improve them, FF3 had the first job system where you change jobs four your four party members
Then FF4 introduced ATB introducing time based menus and systems to FF, 4 was ATB with preset characters, 5 was ATB with an advanced job system, 6 was ATB with special commands per character like Sabins blitz and magicite, 7 was ATB with 3 members, limit breaks and materia, 8 was ATB with the draw system and GFs, 9 was ATB with the Trance system
Then 10 ditched ATB and used CTB instead, no longer time based but instead strict turn based but now with stocked turns so different from 1-3s TB system, had overdrive system, also removed the world map and airships.
11 they ditched CTB and was RTB the first real time FF and an MMO, so was 14 but a different version of the system, both have job systems
12 was ADB which mixed ATB menu with real time movement, had to Gambit system for AI party control and a job system
13 was CSB and was stacked commands in an ATB system, move pool split into 6 with the paradigm system, no world map or towns
15 is AXB which is first fully real time action RPG system, phantom sword system, ring and environmental magic and weapon switching system, taking cues from ADB and having a system similar to Gambits, a menu for party commands, an ATB charge for party members and limit break like system, bringing back the world map, kingdoms, towns, vehicles, airships, crystal based story with royalty, setting being a mix of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and more.

I think it will be good. I like the combat, world looks beautiful, plot looks detailed and well thought out..going as far to have a mini series and a movie for it, you just know it's gonna be an epic.
As far as Final Fantasy goes too Square always delivers quality. I don't care if you think the 13 trilogy was shit or you didn't like it. You have to admit it was still a quality game, what made it questionable was the design choices. But what they went with was still quality work if that makes sense. It was linear, there weren't cities, battle system was very different. With XV were getting cities, it isn't linear, the battle system is something many people enjoy, flying is back, you just know customization will be great..I'm optimistic about it to say the least, I've never played a final fantasy and outright thought it wasn't a quality product.
