They all dress in black because it's the color of the royal organization they are from, they all have weapons, they also all have their own individual personalities, designs and backstories, the only thing they have in common is black clothes because they are from the same place, the same royal organization
There is going to be temporary female party members who join, why would there need to be monsters? FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF8, FF13 didn't have non human party members, also you can have chocobo's travel with and camp with you.
The game is a urban fantasy mixed with medieval fantasy setting with magitek mechs with a story about a prince from a modern kingdom being exiled after his kingdom was invaded and his crsytal stolen, with the medieval kingdom with knights and dragoons using their magitek to take over the kingdom, with the MC then going on a quest to save his kingdom by gathering all the summons to defeat his enemies, and then once he is king dealing with a plague that is threatening the whole world, it's literally an FF5, 6 and FF7 setting mixed into one, there is no audi in the game.
The game known as Versus was a concept that was announced in 2006, it never got off the ground and even then only started as an actual game in 2010 before being put on hold, all because of FF13, FF14 and Crystal Tools, Versus becamse XV in 2012 and that is when full development actually began
The combat is actually responsive if you bothered to play it and try weapons like the Heroes Shield, Cross Shurike and Airstep Sword while doing the weapon swiches, aerial combos, perfect blocks and more.

They were not working on this one fucking build for 10 years, it was even a fucking game 10 years ago, back in 2010 is when the PS3 version actually started as a game and only be around 20 devs in their spare time, it was put on hold in late 2010 then didn't start up again until mid 2012, at that point they rebooted the entire project to FFXV, gave it an actual 300 member dev team, they started making it for 8th gen platforms, at the time it was just a DX11 engine so they could eventually migrate it to Luminous since Luminous was not done yet, then in 2014 is when they actually had it on Luminous engine
