Can someone explain why Paper Mario gets all the love while Mario and Luigi games tend to not be discussed as much? I realize I'm late to the Color Splash outrage party, but as someone who's played Paper Mario 2, Super Star Saga, and Super Mario RPG, I honestly don't see why people are upset by Nintendo telling everyone to play Mario and Luigi if they want an RPG. To me, all I really look for in these games is a certain style of humor and timed button hits to keep me engaged in battles at all times
Paper Mario get discussed more because of the dire situation of the series.
Plus the last M&L game was the definition of forgettable.

Paper Mario is only getting attention due to the Color Splash bullshit lately. Both series have a lot of it's fans so don't think Mario & Luigi aren't discussed a lot, it's just at the current timing that's the case.
Also I don't see the 2 series being the same much at all, sure they have action commands and humor but I prefer Paper Mario since the partners offer a lot more character & ways to get through the worlds with their moves (along with the Paper Curse abilities in TTYD & obviously the Super/Ultra Hammer & Boots). Mario & Luigi at most only has ways to use the Hammer & Jump differently. Also Badges are a thing in Paper Mario which really makes the gameplay different if you know what to use at what point. Mario & Luigi mostly just effects your stats when it comes to Badges & other similar items and doesn't give you new action commands like Badges do in Paper Mario. Which is also another point, there's more button variety in Paper Mario since Mario & Luigi sticks to the A & B buttons since that's how both bros work (Bros move have been making it a little better lately at least).
A smaller thing is the game being more tactical than Mario & Luigi. The amount of damage is simplified to smaller numbers & you aren't just raping enemies with your Bros Move every second.
Another big thing is the mini-games, Paper Mario has a couple but the Mario & Luigi have been filled with them since Bowser's Inside Story which I personally dislike a lot (Color Splash looks like it's getting filled with the shit too actually).
Another thing is the story telling, each Chapter had a smaller story in Paper Mario while Mario & Luigi is just 1 long adventure.

By the way, I should mention I don't dislike Mario & Luigi as a whole, just that the series are much more different than it may seem and I prefer Paper Mario over it.

If you enjoy both of those, you can move on to Hitman 6.

My favorite part in this whole thing was Liquid tossing his shades and coat off into the sunset, scream each other's names in reverb, punch the shit out of each other, fall to their knees, jab needles into each other's necks and watch their life bars sync up all while the patriotic horns were playing in the background. It almost makes up for all the stupid shit in this game, and there's a lot of it.
If the last book you read was made into an adventure game, would it be a fun game?

People shit all over the 2nd one because of meme writing, but me and my friends had a good time playing it. The gameplay is addictive and the writing does a decent job at giving some context to what you're doing.
The first one, after coming back to it recently, is a lot slower paced and darker humoured. The gameplay feels really dated now though.
If you haven't played any of the series then go for it and play in release order.
(Some of the DLC for 2 is god tier)
