Question to think about: How would the ability to trade anything(even those rare drops) with other players change monster hunter? Would you still play it?

It would be nice to give items to other people when you receive them at the end of hunt/carve, but any longer than that and I wouldn't like it
Monster Hunter is a boring grindfest with a shitty camera, but people defend it because it's fun to play with friends, even though just about every game is fun to play with friends.
That aside, being able to trade rare drops is bad, bad, bad. From my experience in MMOs, if you can sell loot from endgame dungeons, then people will be assholes and not take you to endgame dungeons unless you already have the loot from those dungeons, turning the entire game into a horrible grindfest where money beats all. I know that Monster Hunter is very different from an MMO, but I still can't imagine it being a good thing.

No, apparently that would have to swap out the art of the game for localisation which Capcom couldn't be bothered to do. Just import.
PS3 is region free. Get the JP version and enjoy it anyway. There's probably some kind of translation guide you can use to understand the menus.

The general question is:
what does a CHARACTER need to be likable? Whether it's male or female doesn't matter.
Generally: can I identify myself with the character? Does he/she act like I would in a similar situation? (required your RPG is a more linear story)
Personally I prefer a character who can take a joke and is able to laugh... I'm sick and tired of all these broody "the world hates me" types.
