Fallout 1 finally clicked with me and I love it. I've been playing for the last 4 hours.

BFG makes flashlight avaliable without putting down weapon, so you can walk around base without headsmacking walls. This triggers "muh atmosphere" fags
On the other hand for some reason it looks worse than vanilla. Well, fuck that, ain't like game is beautiful now, nothing ages faster than pretty graphics.
Ah yeah, and it has emulated Doom 1 and Doom 2 inside. Not that there's no million ports of it already, but I guess it's still on plus.
But main reason why you should get vanilla, is because cutscenes in BFG are unskippable, and they are LONG and BORING.

Am I the only one who thought this was an incredibly underrated game? I didn't even like the other 2 games in the XIII series and didn't have much love for the characters or plot but the game setting and rules of the game world were amazing.
I loved how open the questing system was, I loved the time restriction and the sense of urgency to accomplish things, reach areas at certain times and generally planning out your day ahead to be as optimal as possible.
Combat was fun, simple yet challenging and levelling up was sufficiently rewarding.
The idea of enemy types being finite and eventually going extinct forever was genius.
I like the concept of a small number of very difficult bosses. and the small elements of metroidvania location unlocks.
Surprised people didn't like it more, did everyone just not give it a chance or just not find the changes are interesting and fresh as I did?

Yes, each sequel was better than the game before it. Lightning Returns is a good game that SOMEHOW made the three games come together in a way that XII-2 completely failed to.

i think we can all agree that this game was a huge infinished dissapointment. But can we also agree that a games experience may extend from the actual game? It felt like an eternity of fun, looking forward to the release of the actual game. speculating what would happen in the game, sharing theories about the story, enjoying the music of the trailers, replaying the series to be prepared for V.
all that could be seen as part of the experience of MGSV.

I agree but that enjoyment is retroactive because of how shit the game turned out to be.
The whole marketing campaign and the trailers were fucking godlike, the hype spiraled out of control. There was no other way for it but to end in disappointment.
In my opinion Kojima shouldn't have changed the formula in the last game. It kinda shows that he didn't really want to make MGS anymore, because everything is so different. He shouldn't have experimented like that in the final game.
