It's the most active Souls game by a small margin, at least on Steam.
It's also the best game in the series, but I'm not gonna argue with autists over this again.
Really just torrent it and play it for a few hours/through if you're worried, or buy it. See for yourself.
The online is fairly active. In fact I'm doing a greathammer/faith run right now.

Damage is the most important role, the other roles function to keep damage alive.
If your damage was high enough you could remove the need for healers or tanks at all. Because it isn't, healers and tanks prolong the fight long enough so damage wins.

Which modern shooter has the best singleplayer mode?
I ask because I really feel like playing something like Unreal or Goldeneye, but I can't think of a modern FPS that isn't either totally multiplayer focused or scripted as fuck.

Release date for Cloud is given: Right after the broadcast. Wolf is revealed, along with some stage called Great Station from Starfox Zero, only for Wii U, and 3ds gets Sector Z. Ivysuar and Squirtle revealed as individuals like Charizard. Saffron City (64) revealed as stage, Inkopolis from Splatoon shown as stage, Magicant for the Wii U version shown, Summit from brawl is shown as DLC, and Tails (I was surprised when I saw this too.)
Is revealed as a New DLC character (Probably for Rio 2016 Olympics.) A final stage is shown, Mushroom Park from Mario Party 10 is shown, it's a stage where you fight in the car that moves around the board apparently. ..
