I just finished Devil's Third. /v/ say it is shit. But /v/ gets it's opinions from metacritc and two minutes of youtube.
The Good
>interesting and over the top story
>switching between guns and melee is natural and fun
>OST and voice acting is good
>a lot of variety in game
>multiplayer is fresh and fun
>rewarding boss fights
>good artstyle
>surprisingly good enemies and ai support
The Bad
>Story only takes 9-12 hours
>frame rate drops
>melee controls could be tighter against faster enemies
>a lot of gun variety, but some don't have a good feel to them
>pay to git gud online
Metacritic gave the game a 44/100
It's really a 75/100. Shame so few will ever play it

I agree op, I really quite enjoyed this game. a lot of other people are starting to say that it's good too. Japanese games have a rating tax on them in the west now. if it's jap it can't get anything higher than a 6, the quality doesn't matter.

One of the better metroidvanias I've ever played, though I'm not a fan of the genre in general.
Checkpoint placing system makes it way too easy. The concept is interesting at first, but by the end it's almost indistinguishable from save states, and the challenges presented aren't even remotely hard enough to justify this.

It's ok so far. I love the artwork and atmosphere.
I loved it. I just beat it an hour ago. The best part was that it gets a lot more fun as you go on (especially after you get bash). The story is simple but the soundtrack and graphics really make the game.
I hadn't played MH in well over a month, but messing around with the hunting horn got me interested in the game again. what are some tips for someone new to MH to play the song of my people while beating the shit out of monsters? Currently using pic related.
Don't be a fag and just stand in the back to play songs. Learn to line up songs while beating monster's faces in.

I don't understand, how come am I being teamed up with lvl 6 even though i'm 40? It doesn't usually do that. Did the old players stop playing ?

I don't know. I kept getting paired up with a level 50 who had a wailing laser thing that went almost all across the map, and it was a very narrow map.

Why is Motion Blur so visually appealing?

You're probably baiting, but object motion blur can be really beneficial for a game, can also smooth out movement at lower framerate.

I'm wanting to take advantage of the steam sale and buy something, and I was considering getting this. Played a little bit into HL when I was a kid on my playstation, loved HL2 when it came out. I'm just not quite sold on this but I'd love to play HL with more modernized graphics.

I finished it a few weeks ago. Never have I played a more broken game. Still was worth the cheap change it cost me during the steam sale.
Also they say that the english translation is shit but the french version is arguably worse. It was probably just written in broken frenglish from the start and nobody went back to fix it apparently. The community-made patch is not too bad however but I would recommend making the first playthrough with the original "it's so bad it's good" version.
It's not like the patch makes the story understandable anyway.

Truth be told, the game is flawed. There are a lot of things that I feel could have been done better. That being said, I enjoyed the game a lot for what it ended up being. It was fun. I'm looking forward to the G.E.C.K coming out so modders can fix the things Bethesda fucked up.
