Fallout 4 sold 12 million copies and over $750 million in its first 2 days. While being the lowest reviewed Bethesda game, its by far the best selling.
How does this make you feel about the industry?
That marketing is more important than making a good game. You know, what the last 5 years of Gen 7 was about.
>>321694336
Bethesda decided to make a post apocalytpic Call of Duty in an open world and were financially rewarded for it.
>market the shit out of your game
>have a hype campaign that releases the game the same year it's announced
>use marketing buzzwords and add building in your game
>use the same assets from older games to save mony
>appeal to the lowest common denominator
glad I pirated this piece of shit
Have a serious jrpg itch and i want to buy a Vita, should i get the older model or the new slim version?
>inb4 Vita sucks blah blah blah
Older model has a better screen
>>321694958
people say this but I'm using the slim version and have noticed nothing
>>321695168
You should have bought glasses instead of a Vita, anon.
What exactly do you find compelling about this game? I tried it and got bored in less than half an hour. Everything about it was just horrible.
>>321693478
I didn't try it, but I say it's shit. Why? I'm on /v/.
If I had not played Persona, SMT, Earthbound this game would've blown me away.
>>321695054
I played all three and still enjoyed Undertale.
Thank you to the anons that have been having Yakuza threads for the past 3 months or so. I've played and beat every game up to 4 so far. Each game has been a great ride, and it has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time.
I just started 4, and am really enjoying the change of pace with Akiyama. I'm still only on the second chapter, but I know I will switch characters eventually. Will I be able to switch characters a la GTA V or should I prioritize doing various side quests and shit extra shit before certain chapters where I'm forced to switch...

You swap characters automatically
You can only swap back RIGHT before the final boss fight

> Will I be able to switch characters a la GTA V
No
>should I prioritize doing various side quests and shit extra shit before certain chapters where I'm forced to switch characters
Yeah, but there are almost no missable stuff.
Finally finished it. Took me 120 hours.
So, how the hell people think thatKiryu dies in the end? Haruka found him and we know he's a fucking dragon, he can't die so fast. I don't fucking believe someone actually thought it was a death scene.

Do you know what's the biggest problem in the industry today? Lack of AA games. What are AA games? Something between huge AAA games and small pixelshit indie titles.
AA games were prominent a few years ago, where we got tons of them for PS2 and PC. Little, cheap projects that were allowed to innovate and made with a small team. The graphics could still be similar to AAA games, but the game usually was less polished, shorter and targeted more of a niche demographic. Nowadays, these small games can't compete with big budget AAA games on the graphical side, so...

it's called middleware
they still exist but are usually just thrown in with all the other indie games because no marketing
the whole thing used to be much bigger back when movie tie in's etc were a thing
You're right.
I usually call them middle market games, but "AA" works too.
Anyways, they died out during 2007-2008 when CoD 4 took the world by storm.
The recession didn't help either, so you saw more risk averse games, but with higher budgets.
Higher budgets resulted in justifying DLC out the ass because "games are expensive to make :^)"

Blame cancerous esport shit for taking all the publisher interest.
Almost done with this hobby. Thank god.

People that like Earthbound after playing Undertale are senseless, it's like preferring 64 after playing Melee.

Or like preferring Melee after playing Sm4sh :/

This, so much this. I can't believe people have such a big nostalgia over this, the game is just TOO OLD. Aged worse than milk

How is this possible? U would've thought valve had come up with some way to prevent this stuff
Still missing a ton of features last I looked. Should be pretty good when they finally finish it.
What does /v/ think of the current state of metal gear?
>>321692515
glad that it's finally over.
What state, dead?
Feels fucking great.
I'm glad Kojima can finally do something else and I'll gladly see Konami fuck themselves up without him on the next MG.
I like it and MGSV is probably my GOTY but Konami should have let Kojima be done with it and make more mecha games like he wanted like 15 years ago

the only thing this "game" has going for is this half naked chick that probably isn't even going to be in the game in the first place
no
Kinda, i enjoy CD Projekt red's games.
Why wouldn't I be?
Though I admit that they announced it way too fucking early.
Just got done with my new level, took more time than I should have.

I like challenge, even the ridiculous IWTBTG-tier levels. The bonerkill comes with any blind doors/pipes that can kill you, blind jumps, and enemy spam. Also not a fan of the levels where you HAVE to use a mushroom to damageboost through a section, though thats more a personal thing rather than that being an unfair obstacle, unlike the other stuff I mentioned
Puzzles are fun too, both one-screen puzzles and levels centered around puzzles.
I'm indifferent about exploration/Metroidvania/obstacle variety. As long as the level is well-made they dont matter to me.

>>322103879
I like all of those things, and I remember your first one being fun. I'll try the new one today.
>>322104402
You might like my courses. They do play kind of like Metroid. They're basically a bunch of action puzzles chained together. Only the star test in the first one has mandatory damage, and the puzzle comes fromfiguring out how to take only one hit.The second course is a little easier and a little longer.
