I played this briefly and is it just me or is it really convoluted? Maybe I'm just used to the simplicity of Bastion having just completed it, but it seems to throw a lot at you without really explaining anything.
Does it become clearer or is it just me? I like a lot of things about it so far, specifically the soundtrack, narration and aesthetic, but the gameplay seems like I'm just pressing buttons for the sake of it. I don't feel attached to the action.

I did one playthrough and then looked up a guide which told me what was going on all along. I liked i better than bastion because of the gameplay/art/soundtrack. Just go and finish it, its only about 3 hours long

Pretty much every game does it nowadays... Instead of making the games look good and have great textures instead devs just fuck the games up the ass with after effects that add a shit ton of bloom, chromatic aberration and other disgusting eye sore, then they spit out a few very select and edited screenshots to make you think it looks good and that they worked really hard on the game.
Xenoverse is way too fucking shiny. Make a Frieza race character with the main color being white. It is like playing a fucking sun, you are just a ball of light.
I light Raging Blast the best on OP image but Raging Blast 2 was the worst shit I ever had play in terms of gameplay. Can't speak for the first game though.

I could see them doing Jakku/Starkiller Base as one world and have Rey as the guest character. I'd be fine with that, really.
Alternatively, have Vader as a secret boss akin to Lingering Sentiment, with a Cloud City/Death Star 2 stage.
