It honestly doesn't look that terrible without the god-awful character sprites, and it's probably the best version of the game, excluding the graphics overall, what with the best version of the soundtrack, and with the infinite esper bug patched out.
If we could just replace the existing character sprites with better ones we'd have arguably the best version of the game

So I'm a bit confused so far. If you select the girl character she will be able to beat up grown raiders with her bare hands and fire a minigun at the hip etc.. How does she do this? Does she have implants or a mutation or something?
Your character actually died in stasis along with everybody else. You're playing a synth the Institute developed from their child and put in their place.
If you are playing as male / female your character was soldier in war and took part in Operation Anchorage, that's why you are known with weapons and power armor training. Your wife / husband was a lawyer depending on who you select.

I quite enjoyed it, but the actual dating sim part is relatively short.
There's a bunch of stuff that isn't available until you actually get the girl, though I didn't find any of it as entertaining as the dating sim.
