What are the trends that killed video game genres for you?

I mean, RTS always had the element of micro management, and you'd always do well to move away wounded troops, get in and harass than pull out with fast ones, kite with ranged units and so on.
However micro was far less intense, and far less important to earlier titles. Mostly they were about scouting and using the information of what your enemy is to either boom your economy, or tech, or make a timed push while you had the advantage or some such.
Another thing that StarCraft did to the genre is make 1v1 the default play mode, despite previously many people playing 2v2, with one person being very aggressive while the other goes for economy, or a full in double aggro, strategies like that.

>all the "quality of life" improvements resulting in MMOs being practically single player games full of self sufficient players that dont need to interact with others much at all to get the best gear and content
Stuffing all the good stuff at the end really bugs me, and even more the way you dont need to chat with people to get in a group and handle the bosses. I'd much rather have a boss drop 3-4 crafting items, each of which requiring some high end profession to work with, and then the refined goods combining in a strong armor. That way you need to socialize to get it, you need to find people, add them to friends, trade favors. Its what the point of MMOs was meant to be.

Hello fellow /v/irgins
I started playing Warframe a long time ago and got back to playing it again after a long break.
Does it always take so long to get new warframe schematics in the game, or am i doing something wrong? The only full set of schematics i got was for Rhino from Jackal, and i can't craft all the parts yet, should i rush some missions to unlock new planets and get components?
The progression is fine, but getting new stuff is so slow, does it get better as the game progresses?

Rhino Is a solid choice for now. Decent stats and easy abilities but you could probably try to get to Alad V and get valkyrs parts eventually.

You get frame parts from bosses of each planet
They are rare drops anyway and one of those is rarer than the others typically systems.
It's sheer luck whether you get it fast or slow.
When I was without pc for a while I played it on ps4 and got from tutorial to rhino within 2 hours
Warframe is actually the good kind of F2P everything is obtainable for free.
You pay money for platinum and use plat to reduce build time and get things quicker. Building stuff in the foundry takes time, anywhere from 12 hours to a week
Plat reduces the wait, that's where the real money comes from.
Noone is kidding when they say this is grind: the game
You grind to get to bosses
You grind the bosses for parts
You grind events and missions for parts and money to build those parts
You use those frames to grind other stuff easier and quicker

with any competitive game, do you think there is a point in time where you reach your individual skill cap, and no matter how much you try, and improve, or just play in general, you will never be able to get any better?
That's when the game really begins, when it's not about your technical skill, but about your situational awareness and your ability to predict and react to the enemy's movements. When strategy and teamwork become superior to raw skill (though it always provides that killer edge)

There's a reason why there's no legendary Big Boss IRL. Like with the knight in shining armour metaphor, the "best" tend to be blown up or unheard of.
I was hoping a long time ago, back when I started trying to play somewhat competitively, that games wouldn't promote individuals so much and instead promote teams (mostly tried to play L4D and TF2 as serious as possible but you still had elements that could dominate solo (sniper for example)).
Now we got some crazy shit cooking up I hope we wind up with a proper kind of spiritual sequel to BF/Arma/MAG/etc with new tech that enables cloud computing for physics and large player counts.
(With some refining, it may be possible to use that tech to improve lighting too)
tl;dr I hope competitive games can start fielding large numbers of players to start making it a proper clan war instead of just a 20 yard big pissing contest arena.

The beta was fun. I would pay 20 bucks for it. But 50 is too much. And no is not RO, that time have passed you nostalgia faggot, a game like that would sink before it learned how to swim. Go and play RO if you want RO. That said, feels like RO2.

This game is such a bore a few chapters in. Why were you guys praising it so? It's extremely on rails, even for JRPG standards. The game might as well had ditched any kind of character movement outside of EDEN, all the real world events are laughable simplistic fetch quests - some of the objectives being literally steps away from the quest-giver. It seems like a forced illusion of free-roaming just for the sake of breaking monotony. Pretty much 'Point A to Point B: The Game'.
What's so neat about this, the sluts? I mean, that's all I'm getting out of this.

I also think the real world parts of the game are pretty pointless and the story seems a tad boring and predictable at times.
That said I think I'm only at like chapter 8 still and I'm still having fun with it

Hate to tell you, but 13 is the most beautiful and dramatic in the franchise, KH2 is way cooler than the first one and gave fans everything they wanted, and square enix's 7 remake will be consciously better in every respect, and NOT be a total visual failure
