Does IS even save money on using those models from the 3DS games over GBA sprites? Its pretty obvious they did on those ugly as fuck DS remakes, but I'm not too sure with the modern games.
They'd have to use even more pixels since the screen contains more of them on the 3ds, so it would have been expensive, yes.

It's pretty impressive such a small studio made a game like this. The only problem I have with it is the character art is kind of unfitting for the game, but it usually gets covered up by armor or robes.
The enemy/boss/world art is incredible though.

Besides, half of Sega's success back when they were big was being EA's favorite son. That audience going to Sony and Microsoft was one of the things that went wrong for them.
