Is this game any good? Looking for something to hold me over until ds3. I don't really play jrpgs but it looks interesting.
Probably not for you if you're looking for something to hold you over for DS3
It's good yes but I think something like say, Hyper Light Drifter or Kingdom hearts could do that job better, or play Bloodborne if you havent tried it.
Some may swear differently, but I thought it was a little mediocre.
If you want a nice RPG on the PS2, I'd look into Shadow Hearts or Wild Arms 3.
I just started this game yesterday. It's been pretty enjoyable so far, but the story is definitely JRPG tier so if that stuff bothers you that might ruin it for you.

I thought the "bad ending unless you do the right thing" fight was the fire demon guy, and you needed to visit the other side of the mirror and kill the demon to progress further.

Not him, but you had to use a specific spell "called Sanctuary if I remember correctly" that takes a while to charge up. If it hits it turns to girls back to normal.
Also PoR is the worst DS Metroidvania and the second worst Metroidvania overall.

It's a great game, but it's kind of only still great because it got it's foot in the MMO door first and had time to snatch up a player base before everyone else realised MMO's could make money.
