I would say at this point that it's been called "overrated" so much by so many people for so long, that it is now no longer overrated.
When everybody agrees that something is overrated, then by definition, it no longer is.
it's the new generation of kids who were born in the late 90s, they played the 3D version and their mushy brains couldn't figure out any of the adult temples because they're used to having objective markers in their games. it's still as good as it ever was.

Personally, I am very excited.
I might be more hyped for this game than I've ever been. All of the recent let downs like Mgs5 and fallout 4 ultimately suffered from lack of content. Something this game seems to be the answer to. Especially since the only arguments I've heard against it are just comparing it to other games that half assed procedural content and then said there was an unlimited amount of variation aka borderlands and spore

Dude. I was gutted by MGSV as I thought it was terrible and MGS is my favorite series. F4 failed to hook me despite the fact that I beat F3 several times. Have really high hopes for this I hope it's good.

just finished pic related; that was honestly the biggest pile of shit that i've played in a LONG time, from start to finish. i thought these games were good? this was like a terribly-designed bastard child of gears of war and prince of persia, with the worst of both and best of neither. i am honestly amazed that this apparently garnered 9's and 10's on release. are graphics/presentation all that it takes to get great reviews?

Welcome to 2007.
An era where would-be writers decided it would be easy to review video games. So instead of giving a shit about the game they praise the graphics, story and crazy setpieces.
Uncahrted has -always- been a subpar gameplay experience. It's only redeeming qualities are the production values. It's casual as fuck, which is why it has mass appeal and got 9's across the board.
A lot of early PS3 games especially still have 9's on metacritic. Heavenly Sword is sitting at an 8 or 9, and I genuinely believe it's a 4.

It was the PS3 Graphics poster game when it came out. That and Jetski level were what got it such good reviews. Its like the original half life, shit game by todays standards.

Not at all.
Just read the descriptions of each stat and you'll figure out all you need to know.
Around the level 35 area and the difficulty is finally starting to hit me. I'm not dying yet, but keeping a manageable level of health is becoming notably difficult.
Playing a Sorcerer right now, most points in demolition and a small handful in Arcane. Trying out dual pistol firestarter with grenado and cluster-bomb thrown in and I'm barely surviving.
It has bad controls for a game focusing on melee combat.

I really want to say the aesthetic of the game isn't appealing enough. That and the unlock system that's scary for newcomers.
The core game is fantastic but without the polish and shine you see in Overwatch for example, casuals wont stick around.
