Funny how when the funding was met, the threads on /v/ about this completely stopped and there hasn't been a single peep from any of the devs about progress on the game.

Did you back the game? They've shown progress being done on the game to those that backed it, but it's mainly just showing off backgrounds and stuff that they've been working on. I'm sure there will be more threads when they give a definite release date.

How casual am I if I think this game is kind of hard? I'm doing the thalmor embassy mission, and the thalmor guards and wizards are totally kicking my shit in.

On what difficulty? On the highest difficulty the game is broken as shit
people say it's easy because they only play as a warrior. playing as a mage or a thief is hard as hell in the early levels. and yes thief does have the benefit of archery but that's only assuming you can stay undetected at all times. because if archery is your only combat skill, and you get surrounded by enemies, well i hope you have a recent save.

More than half of the difficulty comes from your character being extremely slow, weak and frail. I'm not attacking the gameplay, but the design choice. You're a half-rotten, pitiful, pathetic zombie against hordes of enemies way more capable than you. Put the average action game character here and he roflstomps everything because the enemies aren't that hot, it's the player character that's been horribly nerfed in comparison to your average action game.
That gives you the feeling of accomplishment that this series is renown for, but at the cost of the player adapting to the required mindset to actually get into this.
It's not for everybody, and a lot of people get burned out and legitimally realize that this is not the holy grail of gaming, but a developer playing you like a fiddle and you falling for it.
Because of so many nerds wanting to be a cool hardened badass and thinking this is the game to prove it, not to mention the trolling capabilities offered by invasions, this series has achieved a cult status and following that is not deserved.
