Not going to lie, Sony killed it on the gameplay this year. I loved the Microsoft conference, but I wish they'd cut out like every speaker except Phil. Then you won't get cringe, pre-rehearsed moments like that Minecraft mess.
Has anyone else played this travesty?
I've spent about an hour on it and it is with out a doubt the worst thing i've played in recent memory.

>the game's input delay is fucking insane
>one person on the enemy team quitting pretty much ends the match immediately (my first 3 matches lasted a whole 4 minutes before one guy on the enemy team quit and his ally followed resulting in an instant win)
>most people playing right now either dont play the objective or just sit there and turtle despite it being a capture the points gamemode
>matches dont even last long enough to play with high tier units and upgrades
>Commander Point system is really wonky and half the abilities don't work when you need them too
>your units will fucking start auto gathering resource boxes in the middle of combat
>the whole "rock paper scissors" balancing is broke to hell when you can just rush with infantry and like 3 tanks
>the UNSC artillery says its 'super long range' but actually fires only a little further than a scorpion does and it has to be in a locked position of firing
>the game has the fucking art design of some Indie RTS mobile tablet game
>the frame rate is a stable 15 if you get lucky
I know Beta is Beta and they're testing for a reason but honestly it feels like an early alpha release. I haven't bothered playing Covenant yet because the base mechanics of the game are so bad. I will be willing to give it a second shot if a Windows 10 beta happens but holy shit they have a lot of work to do.
I love it. But i wanted to play Search and Destroy not dominion... i was focused on building my army and notice i was losing control points lol. They're trying to go for the old Halo wars field but I'm certain they will attend to these problems.
You should submit your complaints to them, not here. They seem passionate about Halo wars and will do anything to take fans advice

Should've had the option of Deathmatch or Domination, as people have trouble going for objectives

UI is alright and controls I just need to get used to, haven't had any problems with framerate or glitches outside of the game being a bitch to start up
Wish people weren't utter shit at RTS games because all 10 of my matches have just been me steamrolling the other team while my teammate just built his forward base

Yeah, classic mode is fine. EOIV is generally considered the best place to start, though. It has a slightly more forgiving difficulty curve in the other game and generally improved game design compared to even the remakes of the originals.

I unironically believe that indies are the future of videogames.
No sensible person wants this AAA schlock shoved down their throats anymore. People flocked to Shovel Knight, people flocked to Shantae, people flocked to the CONCEPT of Mighty No. 9 before it was outed as shit, they threw literal millions at it. People are flocking to Yooka Laylee. It's very obvious there is an alive and well market in the games industry that's fed up with how homogenized the mainstream has become and they want that homebrewed creativity and heart in their games again, they want that same sort of caliber of games that we once had in the golden age from the 4th generation to the 6th generation.
Sure, plenty of indies are flops or cash grabs, but even some of the more obscure titles you can find offer promise. People are digging Subnautica, Hyper Light Drifter, and I saw this one cool indie floating around called Futuridium that I might pick up soon. Indies are a flourishing little niche well of creativity and old-fashioned design philosophies that intrigues me more and more. For the life of me, I don't know why /v/ hates indie devs so much, surely you guys can't be such oblivious shills.
Also, I'm interested in breaking into this market. I know jack shit about programming or how to go about making a game, so assume I'm a complete retard in every regard when it comes to making a videogame. If I were to begin a shitty little project that barely classifies as playable, and then work my way up to help wedge myself into the scene, where would I start? All advice is appreciated.
I agree. Yooka Laylee in particular looks as if it could be a genuine big name platformer in this day and age.
I think there's a very real market for relatively low budget games like this, and I really wish I had the business sense to start my own company and exploit itAnd make my dream game, an RPG beat em up about two guys who want to teach the world about the wonders of being FIT.

Microsoft wouldn't do it if they weren't getting battered by Sony. If MS was leading the console generation, they'd be locking down game rights, watching you jerk it, and putting even more ads in their games.
