Hello /v/, ive played DS1 many times but just the pirate copy, i never bought it so no online features for me. I just saw that the game is being sold really cheap and i wanted to ask you if online features does affect the gaming experience that much and if its worth to buy it now.

Ds1 is worth it for the mods anon.
When you see DS with dsfix upscaling, 60fps and all the good texture upgrade mods, it's like looking at a wonderful remaster.

It's definitely worth it, the online is currently resparked I think, due to some redditors. Even then, playing with a friend or just going through the game as human is pretty fun. Don't forget to install dsfix and wulfs connectivity mod (I use 1.2, is best in my opinion).
DS1 goes on sale quite often for $5. I usually pick up one copy to give to friends.
Why? Why did this look so fucking MEDIOCRE? I've been giving this game the benefit of the doubt since the Gamescom footage a while ago, and while they've cleaned up the framerate issues, the gameplay just looks beyond dull. The bow and arrow looks incredibly flimsy, you might as well be throwing pebbles at the bosses. Actually this is a problem with the combat as a whole, there's no impact to it. When the MC switched to dragon / melee form the attacks still looked weak and incredibly basic, or when he got flung onto the giant enemy crab's weak spot and started lightly banging on it for massive damage. Getting on the dragon isn't really an impressive feat either, you just float there and shoot some fireballs.
It almost feels like they wanted to replicate DMC except they forgot to include any semblance of fast paced action or in-depth combo system while also getting in on the Monster Hunter train with 4-player hunting co-op, except the combat looks completely brain-dead.
Is Microsoft getting their fingers too deep into the development or is this just one huge misstep for Plat / Kamiya?
I agree. The gameplay reminded me of a shitty neo-WOW raid boss fight.
I'm hoping they will have bosses require precise coordination to beat them instead of just "EVERYONE SHOOT HIM, NOW EVERYONE DODGE HIM, NOW KILL HIS ADDS" bullshit.

A lot of people didn't like the old GoW games, but at the very least they had their own identity and weren't really like anything else.
Gonna buy Nioh and Horizon most likely.
On the fence about the skyrim remaster, I only played through the fighters guild (whatever they were called) and the godawful civil war questlines in the original, plenty of content still to play through.
