Is Winston actually viable in the competitive format?

He's one of the most used heroes in meta. Double Winston used to be one of the best strats until one-hero limits became commonplace.
Winston's special is the worst.

>What is it?
It's a tactics game, indie, fully based about positioning and with unique mechanics.
>Should I get it?
If you enjoy a classic, mature and slightly(very) homo RPG experience, do it.
It is currently 18$ in Steam.
>Is it challenging?
Fairly. Namely at the start - think Darkest Dungeon style of difficulty where, until you get the hang of the mechanics, you will easily get stomped and then some.

I can answer the last only, and that's combining 2 tier 4 weapons into a soul stone, which you can bring to one of the many gates.
Many tier 5 soul weapons are hidden in spots that relate to the particular stone; I.E The rapids has a statue with mantis corpses around it. Bring a Mantis Soul by combining two tier 4 scythes in order to receive one of the soul scythes.

I don't see the point of it in multiplayer games. It's not fun for me to beat people just because I used a wall, aim, or trigger bot.

Some stories I've read, people who go out of their way to buy multiple accounts and cheating software just like the idea of beating the shit out of people for a while before getting banned, only to switch accounts and keep going.
Cheating in single player games? I don't see any problem with it because you aren't impacting anyone elses fun.
Cheating in multiplayer against other players? All you're doing is admitting you're both trash AND lazy. There's nothing more satisfying than watching a hacker get banned.
The Altmer are the greatest race on Tamriel, prove to me they're not.
