Because the books were extremely popular
First and second were great. Good director, captured the magic of the books perfectly. Costume design and spells were all perfect. Few key scenes missed out, only Peeves was missed.
By the third film we got a new edgy grimdark director who put them all in muggle clothes for some reason, took away musical scores from scenes and just ruined it film by film
He also did this in the fourth film, a tune that you will never be able to get out of your head.

So I just got back from The Revenant. I really, really enjoyed it. Certain scenes actually made me wince and recoil in my seat at the theatre. Every fight and display of pain had a realistic weight to it.
I got out over an hour ago and my heart is still racing.
Thoughts?
Leo was great, Hardy was maybe a slight bit better. Who else could even really come close to beating Leo this year though?

Glass' story is epic and the telling was very well done. The bear moved way too fast to be taken seriously and was completely unrealistic, but Leo's performance was great in spite of that. The fights were tremendous. No memeing, this was the best film I saw in 2015 and I even saw The Force Awakens, Bone Tomahawk, and The Hateful Eight.
the cinematography was great, the scenes in their entirety were nothing short of brilliant, the acting is definitely the best of this year but the plot was very underwhelming.
It also bordered on self parody at times with the final scene of his wife in the snow. Only scene i'd actually describe as cringe-worthy.
8/10 my fourth favorite movie of the year.

I agree with pretty much all of this. The fights felt real, because you could tell the characters were in pain. Which is a testament to the acting.
Maybe I didn't see enough good movies recently, but this has to be the best one in the last 12 months. For me, at least.

I watched it as it aired back in the day, the mythology bullshit is a lot easier to follow when marathoning it but it's clear when they just started making shit up with no grand plan like lost. Like wtf happened to that grey alien that was living in the core of the nuclear reactor? Never to be mentioned again.
