I was always told that all cencurship and quality control was lost with the fall of communism but i mentioned that same thing happened in the west just earlier. People stoped singing in comedies.

Film major here. Still love movies, but for whatever reason I can barely stomach television anymore.
Even the best shows are nearly half filler. Every show has a handful of boring characters that go nowhere. Network shows can't show vulgarity, but HBO shows seem to almost rely on it. I just don't see the artistic merit in television these days.
I do agree that a lot of movies suck, too. But if you sit through a bad movie, that's 2 hours of your life. A show can waste anywhere from a day to the better part of the year.
