If you did, it's pretty much the exact same tone and sense of dialogue in Part 2, so you only have yourself to blame.

It got released shortly after Avatar. Avatar got praised and this one got panned.
In the end, they are the exact same type of film based on extremely clichéd hero journeys set on alien worlds. But John Carter had charm and Avatar just had a running time of over 180 minutes.
JC isn't great but it's way better than Avatar.
