Starc's influence goes beyond his bowling figures. He is the greatest white-ball and death bowler of all time. Just having him available affects both teams. Australia know they have someone who is going to bowl the death overs and do it well so they can use their other bowlers more effectively, ie bowling Hazlewood much earlier. It affects the batting team because they know they won't be able to target Starc at the end and will have to target someone else earlier, which is what happened last game when they went after Zampa.
There are only two other bowlers in the last 15 years who have had that impact, Brett Lee and Malinga, and Starc is better than both of them.
While in Test cricket there are probably 5-6 guys at around the same level and no standout, currently there isn't a single other bowler in Starc's league in pyjama.
