Why do I root for the SEC? It's called Southern Pride, fucknuts. Us Southerners are better at football than everyone else and we enjoy showing all faggots that on an annual basis. SEC isn't just a conference, it's a way of LIFE. I may be a Tennessee fan first and foremost, but I root on the SEC because it's in my blood. The only two real teams they have played this year with pass oriented schemes were Ole Miss, where their secondary got fucking exposed, and Texas Ass to Mouth, whose offense has been hot garbage since Manziel left
Here we go. There WILL be two SEC schools in the second CFB playoff.
Bama will beat LSU convincingly this week and shoot up to number 2 in the polls. Unfortunately for Bama, they aren't in control of their own destiny. That quality loss to Ole Miss means that as long as the Rebels win out, the Crimson Tide won't make it to the SEC championship. Looking at the rest of Ole Miss' schedule, it's quite obvious that they'll win out. What does this mean? Ole Miss wins the SEC, and Alabama's only loss is to the SEC champion. This is a sure lock for both teams.
Ohio State will win out, and since they're the defending national champion, they'll make it.
Clemson will also win out, and since they're a southern school they'll also make it (but just barely).
TCU and Baylor are less fortunate. Both teams will be undefeated when they meet up later this month. The winner of the game will also finish undefeated. Unfortunately for them, there is no Big 12 championship game, so they're out despite a flawless record.
The Pac 12 has already defeated itself, no team is getting in from that conference.
Notre Dame will win out, with it's only loss over the ACC champion Clemson. They'll sit comfortably at number 5 because they're Notre Dame, and will lose their New Year's Six bowl game in hilarious fashion.
And the G5 underdogs - who can forget about them? Today's poll has shown that the committee has next to no love for Memphis, Toledo or Houston. The biggest loser of the three will be Memphis; they will win out and take home the AAC championship. Despite beating Ole Miss earlier in the season, they'll be lucky to grace the top ten come September.
Final rankings:
1. Ole Miss
2. Ohio State
3. Alabama
4. Clemson
5. Notre Dame
6. LSU
7. Baylor
8. Florida
9. TCU
10. Stanford
The rest is irrelevant.

I like OK State a lot but I'm seeing 8-4 or 7-5 next season. Need to be more consistent on the ground, defense may be returning starters but it's not like they were good to begin with. It's clear that no one has any idea how to defend the wide open game as fast as it evolves. Giving up 24-35 is considered good now.

>>63977993
I think much of the rest of the conference will be better next year. Kansas State was so fucked up this year but next year they'll be healthy and they'll return a lot of guys. TCU will be decent enough because it returns most of its team but will probably end up like West Virginia, only beating the middling and bottom feeders because it doesn't have a star qb like Boykin or Mayfield. Baylor will be good again and Texas Tech will be essentially the same, missing some offensive weapons (running back is underrated) but will have a better defense, i think. If OK state isn't as lucky as they were this year, they'll need to improve a lot to have the same record, and Im not sure I see that happening.

To be fair though, the teams have been loaded with his talent that he has under coached. Without him, the talent never gets there in the first place/isn't developed. It is a catch 22 that could be solved if he would hire an actual legitimate OC. Still hasn't had one, we still don't have a legit ST coach either and that has come back to bite us many times.
>>63983216
So let me reword that. I'm frustrated because last year we had a legitimate shot to win every game we played and he + Dak's turnovers late fucked it up.
So this year, Dak cleans it up, posts record numbers from the pocket all season. So Dan decides that we should run him 15 times a game and get him banged up in our 2 big late season games.
Couple that with his mismanagement of our RB's and O line and I don't think he should be fired but he clearly needs a little help.
>>63983306
Yeah. That kind of surprised me. It seems like a solid 5-10 players on each team are from New Jersey, even some big names like Jabrill Peppers, Corey Clement, and Eli Apple
>>63982318

>>63983312
Technically Peyton and Eli are from Louisiana
>>63983346
C'mon now, Archie and his whole family date back to Mississippi for as long as he can trace. Just because they were born in New Orleans because Archie played for the Saints doesn't change that.
>>63983318
That's straight up wrong though. The talent level at Miss St is markedly less than they have performed under Mullen. This idea that Mullen is a bad playcaller comes from Miss St fans with delusional expectatuons and beliefs in the ability of the players on their roster. Dan Mullen has proven to be among the best playcallers and talent developers in college football. That, far more than recruiting, is his strength.
You idiots forget who was responsible for Josh Harris, Brian Johnson, Tim Tebow, Chris Leak, Alex Smith and now Dak Prescott. Some of them weren't names that were widely saught recruits, but Dan Mullen turned all of them to superstars.
Billy Gonzales and John Hevesy are great OCs and Brian Johnson is a great QB coach. I don't think Miss St fans watch their own team play, or don't understand anything about football because they're so used to really bad teams, because they can't be more wrong about Mullen and his staff.
>>63983330
He has to run the ball with Dak, you guys cannot recruit running backs that can be effective in the SEC. Obviously, it would be ideal not to do that, but he doesn't exactly have much choice.
It's a talent issue, not coaching issue.
>Reuban Foster
>lives in Auburn, Alabama
>one of the top recruits

What is more embarrassing? The fact that Auburn couldn't hold on to a top recruit from their own city and lost it to their biggest rival, or the fact that this kid tattooed the logo of a college he didn't end up going to. How is the iron bowl even considered a rivalry when players switch sides just like that?

>>63983359
My expectations are not delusional. We can beat 2 out of 3: TAMU, LSU and Ole Miss most years. We can beat Bama some years. You've seriously not watched any games if you don't know how stale and predictable the play calling has become. The roster has taken a marked step up in terms of quality, littered with 4 stars instead of 3 and 2. But please continue to tell me about how little I know of my own team.
>>63983398
Whole family lineage traces back to Mississippi proudly, and one son even turned down offers to go play at a lesser Mississippi university. Archie and his dad both played at Ole Miss and were born in the state.
So yes, the Mannings are from Mississippi.
>>63983368
We have two good young backs now in Dontavian Lee and Aeris Williams, but Dan continues to give the snaps to underperforming upperclassmen. Same with the offensive line. I know why he gives seniors every chance to play, but frankly, he has out recruited his seniors at this point. We made Dak's backup transfer because of two better prospects we signed, he knew he was never going to play his junior and senior year.

>>63983395
Because he developed them. Josh Robinson was the 49th best running back in the nation when he was recruited. He was a 3 star. Mullen made the best with him. Vic Ballard was a 2 star. Neither of these names ever would have played a down at nearly any other P5 university.
I don't understand how you think pointing to two low-level recruits Mullen made successful means that Mullen can't manage running backs and MSU gets superior RB talent.
Boobie Dixon was an old Sylvester Croom recruit, who is known specifically for RB work. Mullen attracts QBs, not RBs, generally.
>>63983410
You guys are playing teams that all have 5 Star recruits everywhere. A reasonable expectation would be a conference title by his 10th year there. It took years for the talent to even approach where it's at, and Miss State still has the weakest roster in the SEC West.
>>63983432
I believe you have mistaken me. I'm ecstatic with 8 wins. With even a modicum of luck at the end of the game the LSU game would've made 9. I'm not disappointed or upset about not competing for conference championships when Bama exists in our division. I don't believe we will ever compete for a national championship. That being said, there is still room for the team to grow. Especially this one now that is graduating only 5 seniors (although one of them was Dak)
>>63983410
Anon, 2014 was a historic year for Miss St. You will almost certainly only ever experience one or two more like that in your entire lifetime. And now you're complaining about the only coach who was able to accomplish that at Miss St? Lmao
>>63983499
I'm only complaining about his play calling in big games and late game decision making (watch the end of the LSU game this year). The Alabama game this year is baffling from a play calling standpoint, almost worse than it was last year when we only lost by 5 (despite not learning not to run between the tackles until late in the 3rd)
That being said, he is by far the best coach in program history, with Dak being the best player. I look forward to the future as long as he is there and beyond. He has certainly built a solid foundation for if/when he decides to move along for Bulldog fans to be proud of and the program to build upon.

I'm so glad I root for a team that routinely gets results. I'll never get tired of seeing Henry grab the ball. This is just genius playcalling, going by results. Thanks for playin y'all, and roll Tide.

Brady was never benched at any point in his college career, it just took him a while to earn the starting job - he wasn't particularly highly recruited and there were several guys who were there prior to Brady and were playing well so he never saw play time. When he finally won the starting job he set a bunch of school records and won the team MVP. He wasn't the GOAT in college, but he was by no means "mediocre"

I watched a whole documentary on it.
In Brady's senior season, the coach would let him play the first quarter and let Drew Henson play the second and then decide on a QB. You should read up on it because you have no clue. They were constantly trying to replace him.

That's maroon not brown. It is just wet from rain.
>>63988939

>>63988939
"no"
It's literally the other way around. Drew Henson would've been the equivalent of a 5-star today so Carr gave him the starting job and he was awful, so Brady always took over in the second quarter or half. Brady was never benched for Henson - Henson was benched for Brady.
Why is no one calling him Jake Choker yet? It's one of those easy zingers that you'd think everyone would say.

What's the point of making shit up to argue when I literally have Wikipedia open?
> In the 1999 season, Brady had to once again hold off Henson for the starting job. The two platooned over the season's first seven games, with Brady playing the first quarter, Henson the second and Carr then deciding upon a quarterback for the second half. The 1999 Michigan Wolverines started off 5-0, including a 26-22 win over Notre Dame and a road win against eventual powerhouse Wisconsin. Against Michigan State, Brady was not chosen to play the second half but was reinserted into the game with Michigan down 17; he nearly led Michigan all the way back before losing 34-31.

Knowing that Brady there more than 3 (three) times as many passes as Henson that season, who do you think the hot hand was? Who do you think got benched for who? That entire season was Brady playing the team out of holes that Henson got them into.
>>63989171

>>63989178
I'm not arguing that. I'm not arguing that Brady was the better QB. What I am arguing is that Brady started the game and was then benched for Drew Henson to come into the game. He even missed an entire first half of one game. That is by definition "losing the starting job"

When Brady retires he'll take a short break from football and go into broadcasting. After a few years of narrating the game, he'll realize he misses leading football teams so much that he'll go into coaching. Michigan, having won it's second straight national championship with Jim Harbaugh, will be looking for a new QB coach. Brady will take the role and unlock the potential in other quarterbacks. Years will pass and he'll move up the ranks, eventually becoming the offensive coordinator. Harbaugh will be in his mid 60's - and after winning his third national championship at Michigan he considers retiring. In his last brilliant move, he promotes Tom Brady to head coach before leaving coaching and becoming the Michigan athletic director. Brady picks up where Harbaugh left off, and completes the most dominant dynasty in all of college football history.

Continuing, you said that Henson was benched for Brady.
Here is Brady in the first game of the season, starting the opening drive, only to be replaced. Later in the season he wasn't even let into a game until the 3rd quarter. Brady was benched in college multiple times for Drew Henson.

~PART 1~
Wisconsin fan here. If you are remotely interested in an in-depth analysis as to why Iowa is a meme team, please consider taking the time to read this essay.
You may have seen phrases like “Iowa is a meme team” or “no team more meme than Iowa” being thrown around here lately. What do people mean by this? Well, we first need to find a clear definition of what a “meme team” really is. A meme team is not too different than a meme win. As we all know, a meme win happens when a team wins off of one or two astronomically improbable plays that, by luck, go in their favor. A team may be outplayed for 60 minutes, but conjures up enough dark magic to sneak out a win thanks to a couple of meme plays. Meme wins often result from the opposing time completely shitting the bed. I’m a big Packers fan, but I’ll be first to admit that last night’s win against Detroit was clearly a meme win. There are plenty of examples of meme wins throughout football this year. The Michigan State - Michigan game is a great example of a meme win. Miami - Duke was a meme win. Meme wins happen. They’re often exciting and controversial.
A good team can have a meme win or two. It happens. Football is one of the most unpredictable sports in the world; the ceiling for chaos is just so high. So if a team like Michigan State can have a meme win, why are they not a meme team? Why is Iowa a meme team?
Let me make this very transparent: a meme team can ONLY win from meme wins. Don’t believe any lies from Iowa fans and/or ESPN; Iowa does NOT find ways to win - rather, their opponents find ways to lose. Look at how close some of their games have been against some seriously weak competition: Squeaked by Pitt at home 27 - 24. Barely survived Indiana 35 - 27. Almost blew it against Minnesota 40 - 35.
>>63991519
Huskies are the best dogs
>>63991528
~PART 2~
Perhaps the most obvious meme win of their dozen came against my Wisconsin Badgers. I was there firsthand, and can honestly say the following: as a senior who has watched 40+ Wisconsin games in the past four years, no game comes remotely close to as meme as this year’s blunder against Iowa.
For those who didn’t watch the game, you missed a defining moment for Iowa’s. One play can be used as a metaphor for Iowa’s ENTIRE meme season. I’ll paint the scene for you: Wisconsin is driving against Iowa late in the game. They are down 10 to 6, but finally are getting some momentum. After a series of good runs and catches, Wisconsin manages to get the ball to Iowa’s one yard line. Down by four with only 7 minutes left in the game, a touchdown would surely be enough to guarantee a Wisconsin win. Iowa was COMPLETELY shut down on offense during the entire second half; there was no way Iowa was scoring even a field goal during the end of that game. 2nd and 1 at the goalline, all Wisconsin has to do is run the ball right down the gut three times. If it were any other game, they’d run it in and take the lead. If it were any other team, Wisconsin would have found a way.
But no, they were facing Iowa. The fabled, legendary meme team. No team more meme. The memest of them all. If you don’t know what comes next, have a look for yourself. I carefully skipped ahead to deciding play for you: https://youtu.be/O6VvpS_MwYg?t=1h46m21s
That’s right - Wisconsin’s Joel Stave trips and falls on THIN AIR, fumbling the ball and ultimately giving Iowa yet another meme ass win.
What's your excuse for not going out tonight /sp/?
>>63991542
~PART 3~
It would be easy for me to put the blame on other schools. Pitt should have stopped them. Minnesota, I hate you guys, but I’m not mad at you for failing to stop Iowa. As a Wisconsin fan, I’m willing to take the blame. Wisconsin was in the best position to beat Iowa, but our quarterback somehow managed to fumble the ball by falling from nothing. It would have been one thing if Iowa made a tough and memorable 4-down stand, proving their toughness and grit. It would have been one thing if an Iowa defender crashed through Wisconsin’s offensive line and made a perilous strip of the ball. Because you see, folks, that’s what good teams do. Good teams find ways to win. Meme teams let their opponents beat themselves.
But there is hope.
Last year around this time, Wisconsin was BTFO on a level never seen before during championship week. Ohio State thoroughly destroyed us, and we all know what happened next…
Michigan State has a chance to top 59 - 0. Based off of what I’ve seen from Michigan State and Iowa, this game could very well be 59 - 0 at halftime. If MSU doesn’t near triple digits it will be a disappointment.
So please, Michigan State, find a way to put this meme to rest. Iowa has absolutely no business being in the playoff. Put a dagger through their dream. Save the Big Ten. Save college football.
