That's a pretty narrow view akchwally. There are multiple ways to control for an outcome that is favourable for the NBA organisation, here's some off the top of my head:
>Refs foul out a player
>Refs call phantom fouls
>Ref DON'T call fouls
>Don't suspend a player
>Pay a player to have an "off" game

All of these can influence an outcome but there are many other variables at play that determine the final score of a game. The best you could do is alter the variables you do have control over and hope it goes your way.
