UNC is in the top 20 of men's basketball rankings no matter what. They can lose several games straight and still be in top 20 while if other teams lose 1 game they drop from the top 25 entirely. What explains this irrationality?

Because they're losing to good teams? Instead of looking at their records at face value, check their RPI rankings. They're ranked 11 in standard polls, but ranked 2 in RPI. Their strength of schedule ranks 5th in the country and their two losses were to teams ranked in the RBI 100.
If they had lost to two shitty teams, they would be a lot lower.

I'll start with Shinya Aoki - he's not big, just the size of Conor McGregor, but he's broken 3 guys' arms. Last guy he laughed in his face and flipped him off (pic related):

Winning games against mostly shit teams, and struggling, doesn't make them elite to the majority of everyone outside their bandwagon fanbase.
Truthfully and I'm going to lay it down for you OP... The Panthers squeak wins out. They aren't dropping 50 burgers on teams. They're basically Vikings-tier with better luck.
And the moment the team is down by 2 scores Cam Nigton will go full pre-Madonna and it'll unravel the whole undefeated charade they have going

I think that once he retires, he's gonna be heralded as superior individually in nearly every regard.
He's even having PER (as flawed of a stat as it is) approaching Pippen's and if this year holds up, he'll shatter Pippen's previous career best. However, season's a third ish done so sample size is still pretty small, and PER can plummet thorugh a bad stretch.
Main thing which may be brought up against him is the fact that he hasn't won as much (and most likely never will), since Scottie had the 6 championships and excellent performances without MJ.
