Did anyone else really like Finn?
I know people were getting passed because of the obvious cuckoldry going on, but I actually came out of the the theater a little sad that he got fucked up by Ren.
He was an interesting, believable deutaragonist.
He and Rey have great chemistry onscreen too.

I liked Finn, too. The thing is, I think anyone could have played the role. JJ cast him solely because he was black. That worried me a lot, but SJW shit wasn't really hamfisted in the movie at any point.
I also don't think Rey and Finn are going to get together, I think it is solely friendship based. I am also thinking Finn is going to die.

I didn't find the character believable. You're raised as a soldier since birth yet bail out after your first mission? And you turn completely against the First Order? No one spotted these tendencies in you before? Not buying it.
I also didn't like what I saw as mainstream "black culture" jokes - "droid please", manners, ways of speaking etc - it's fine if a character has dark skin, but I doubt niggerspeak existed a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. It pulled me out of the movie, as if JJ Abrams' finger were poking me in the eyes while he's telling "See? He's BLACK!". I don't give a shit.

I really really liked him. His inexperience was actually really endearing. I liked how brave he was, even though he was clearly scared throughout the whole thing. He was goofy and relateable.

Finn wasn't so bad. Neither was Rey. I still get them four years later, but not as frequently and not with the same intensity.
They used to last five days and send me to the hospital, now they last two at the worst. In the in-between time I've been in therapy learning a lot of stimulus tricks to get the body out of panic attacks and a lot of them help significantly. I also take medicine for it which, again, helps significantly.
I'm not fixed but I'm getting better.

He had just been shot by Chewie's blaster bow. Y'know, the one that killed multiple storm troopers in one hit earlier in the movie?
Also, his whole psyche was shaken. He was trying to tap into his anger and pain by beating his wound during the fight, but he wasn't able to harness his rage like a true sith because he was doubting the power of the dark side.

While this seems true, it seemed like tonally there was a shift throughout the film. I mean, at the start, Finn is panicking and realizes it's the wrong thing to do once he sees his friend die and realizes that killing is horrible and the film makes killing seem horrible, but then has no problem killing everyone is his way afterward, which the movie makes light of and makes it seem badass. I would be fine with either but it seemed to veer off.
