In case you haven't noticed, threads in 4chan's own archive now have a video ad that is awfully malware like.
I unfortunately don't know of a way to distinct between archived threads and regular threads in my adblock filters, since both use the same server. So I've disabled my ads everywhere on 4chan now, and it pains me to do so.

Every now and then, dozens of threads; all of them video game related, just disappear. All deleted. No explanation given. Just huge swaths of threads completely culled that are completely video-game related.
Like just now, Rate your favorite game, Dragons Dogma thread, Video games with cute girls, Danganronpa
Those were just the threads I was browsing. No fucking clue how many were actually culled, but I've noticed this happening more and more frequently. Just a bunch of threads, gone, no reason.
What's worse: /v/ lacks an effective archive at this point. 4ch.be is almost two weeks behind now, and fireden is down more often than a drunk hooker.
What the fuck does it all mean? Why the video game threads? LOL threads and filename threads are just fine, but not video game threads? Why is this happening more and more frequently?

I would not be surprised if the idea of banning video games from 4chan was outvoted at one point in 4chan's history.
What's really wrong with /v/ (and the entire website) is that people believe they are expected to do certain things under certain circumstances. A lot of people that go to /v/ go there with the very intention of acting like a total moron. The people that cry "X board is bad anyway!" are the ones that perpetuate that mindset in the first place. The reputation of most boards is upheld for no reason other than that's what you're supposed to do here. Think of all the habits and posting styles on many boards, and how they actually go against what could make the board better/good. Popular belief tells people that the culture on 4chan is to act like an idiot, and so they follow the rest of the herd.

There is a way to tell when its advertisement or not, first let's think about the background here, why would an already extremely sucessful company focus on a small demographic that is less likely to be pleased and buy anything? 4chan may be influential when it comes to word spreading but we aren't the most lucrative "shill spot", its easier to focus on other websites that are more vocal and have a community that is more likely to buy
