I don't know much about other popular "discussion" sites, but from what little I do know about them 4chan actually seems like the only place for actual discussion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all the other ones use stupid systems like sorting content by person instead of topic (like twitter and facebook?) or by sorting conversations by popularity of each little individual comment (e.g. you know what site I'm talking about)?

But the fire rises, mods. Baneposting will never die. For too long we've had hotheads derail threads, autistic crossposters who bring their identity politics to the table in an effort to impress everyone. But Baneposting is the glue that keeps this board together. It's the meme that reminds us of an age where we could have fun and have a good laugh at CIA and his flight plan antics.
But what do you do? You delete these threads, in favour of race-baiting threads which brings in stormfags from /pol/ and SJWs from reddit. You turn this board to shit with your modding, your pettiness at a meme. You would allow /pol/fags to derail threads blaming blacks and jews for their shortcomings, but delete a thread about Flight Plans? You would allow Redditfags to whine about white washing and praise black casting, but deny us from grabbing our prize?
You fucking mods make me sick. You're fucking scum. You're a pack of fucking hotheads who won't allow us to bond over a meme, and with your pettiness you are making this board eat itself from the inside out. Kill yourself. End it. I think it would be an excellent way to break reply chains and stop pointless 1-up battles.
The thing is, it's not just that your post isn't able to be linked to, because people will still find a way to reference your post, but I really think from a psychological point of view it would go a long way toward helping people ignore things.
First of all, you can imagine that someone responds to one of your posts with something very annoying, something that you would normally respond to and end...

When did avatarfagging become okay? I have been reporting the same avatarfag repeatedly and none of her posts are being removed. She avatarfags as "Supergirl" in /lgbt/ and has spammed up both of these threads:

Mods and hotpocketeers (jannys) only delete/b& what they feel like. If you're reporting their friend from tumblreddit or IRC, they're gonna let it slide since some of us are more equal than others :^)
How come we don't have a "Reason" field whenever a post is reported? I would personally want to write out in specific detail why someone should be banned.

Most likely because of that reason. I know I would write a fucking essay citing rules and prior archived mod posts every time I reported something.
It has been revealed that the new janitor on /out/ is actually a notorious tripfag from /an/ called Bugguy !S0xZFbp/pY, but now goes by Plont.
If you make any post referencing Bugguy it will be deleted. Any negative comment toward content he posts "your picture is out of focus" etc. your post will be deleted. This guy is a loose cannon and gives out 10min mutes willy nilly. I had one the other day for calling him out as bugguy. If it happens again I'll screenshot it.

Don't know much about it but I believe it. Having users become janitors with 4chan as mainstream as it is now seems pretty retarded to me.
I mean, of course it's not the regular users who enjoy this place and post in a normal fashion that are going to volunteer to be a janitor >for free. They enjoy discussing here, but don't want to do cleanup because that's not why they come here. They visit to actually use the damn board and have fun.

They think IDs are somehow persistent. Like, as opposed to be a RNG blob of text, it's a thing.
And namefield-posters are just setting themselves up for being ignored. Either outright or through filtering. I don't know. People think that people think their posts are going to be so good that others will want to keep track of them?
Also, I have a script that just outright removes names and tripcodes. It's really nice.
Autism. They don't understand tripcodes are mere tools and IDs have been a thing since forever.
Best part is, we're actually going to have IDs implemented on all boards soon, and they won't be able to do anything about it.
