it's not like it REALLY matters if your posts get deleted. And it's probably really convenient for dealing with the spammers who ban evade and flood the board. Plus there's probably a fair chance other comments were rule breaking but haven't been reported.
However it was pretty confusing once when I got some weird glitchy ban. I saw all my posts disappear.
I tried to report something and was told I can't do that because I was banned for CP or something, but I could still post just fine. After complaining on /qa/ it got fixed though.

His endgame was for a site for cool people (per his 14-year-old self's definition of that) to talk about anime and whatever other amusing things Japanese or otherwise. The naming of the original boards was for their Japanese counterparts, for example /k/ is short for "keisatsu", the nip word for weapon.
His endgame was for a nerdy quirky Japanese flavored place. That's all. Meme hubs, politics, real-life movements etc were never remotely in the picture when he started the place; it that is functionally all just hijacking the site due to its general lack of moderation and flimsiness of its ban system. Everything else that came after was pure accident, whether you consider that a happy accident or not varies on what boards you like / still like.

I'm developing a fantasy 4chan stock exchange codenamed Meme Exchange (memex) for now.
The idea is that you create an account and you get given 1000 fake dollars. You can use this to invest in boards and potentially memes.
I will have scripts running on the server analyzing each board every hour and automatically assigning value to the stocks based on a long list of factors including but not limited to: number of threads per hour, posts per hour, number of posters per thread, average thread lifetime, and so on and so on. It will obviously also be effected by how much people invest in the stock too. I want to factor in enough things that can effect price that it won't be too easy to game it but you can still have fun with manipulating the market. The idea is that you have to speculate on boards popularity (and other factors), you can make money from certain boards influx of summerfags etc.
I'm just putting it out to you guys at the moment to get your feedback, any ideas you have, what features you think would be cool etc. Especially what factors you think should effect stock prices and by what amount.
I'm planning to have leaderboards so you can try and compete on who is making the most money. They'll be graphs showing you historical prices and all that normal stuff.
I was thinking of adding memes that are text based as investment options, like Trump, kek, :^), etc. Things that I can actually track use of.

I don't think image md5s would be reliable enough since resizing or re-encoding the image would change the hash. A lot of sites will convert user-uploaded images to lower quality to save on disk space / network traffic.
I'd recommend looking into natural language processing libraries to do semantic analysis of post text and color analysis for image recognition.
