General threads have no place on most of 4chan. They exist to hole up entire realms of topics when a regular thread would do fine.
They're terrible on /h/, /tv/, /tg/ and all the boards they're on. I'm free to exclude /vg/ since it's part of the board, but if it's not part of the board then general threads and people who post them should get fucked.
