I support the 2nd Amendment and gun rights, but I just don't see why any person needs a magazine over 10 rounds, or a detachable mag semi auto.
The argument is brought forth that they give gun owners an advantage over criminals, or that they are necessary for self defense. Yet in the vast majority of defensive gun uses (themselves being uncommon), nowhere near 10 shots were fired. There are fewer circumstances where they were needed for lawful defense than the number of people killed in mass shootings with them.
Can someone put forth a valid argument supporting civilian ownership of high-caps and detachable magazine semi-autos without resorting to memery?

The problem lies in having a 'gun culture'. It is literally a culture of violence. Everyone wants to carry their pistol around so they can fantasize about saving the day or taking down bad guys and pretending to be James Bond.
You don't need a full (or semi) auto machine gun. You don't need a 30 round clip.
If you want to hunt, fine. Get a wooden hunting rifle (less dangerous). You don't need an m16.

From what I've seen, most of/pol/ wants a traditional married life: a loving conservative wife, children to raise, a home in the country, a family to take on roadtrips, to celebrate the holidays with, to be proud of, to grow old with. We want a family unit that depends on us - kids to take fishing, hiking, shooting ... piano recitals, report cards, school conferences, snow days, camping, visiting the grandparents, hiding easter eggs, wrapping Christmas presents, anniversaries, Sunday church, watching old movies together, grilling with the neighbors on a summer weekend, having a beer with your son after he's turned 21, dancing with your daughter at her wedding, watching your children become adults, and seeing your grandchildren.
How could anyone not desire and fight for these things? Why do some people collapse under the pressure of current social trends? Shouldn't we struggle to preserve this way of life?
