How the shit do you ride a wheelie out? I'm popping it up in first around 12k and the front comes up (feels like a lot, but I'm sure its a babby whoolie), then immediately comes down. How am I supposed to ride it out without feeling like I'm gonna loop my baiku?

Narrowed it down to a few bikes. What would dbt get?
vancouver.craigslist.ca/nvn/mcy/5541455728.html
Alright price but lots of mods and "altered" title

07 with 55 000km pretty high; I'm unsure how long these bikes can go
http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/mcy/5566252809.html
Little bit pricier but 6000km on an 08 seems worth it
http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/mcy/5562607299.html
Comes with race fairings and two sets of wheels. I'd like to learn how to race so this could be a good choice

Not sure guys; budget it 6500 but prices are fucked near me. There was a bone stock 06 zx6r with low k for 5500 but that sold within an hour. I had a 650r for a few years and learned how to ride on an old bored out 250 2 stroke so I know how to ride just unsure on the Yamaha or kawasaki. Selection is scarce and prices are high right now but I don't know how much longer I can go without a bike

I had one for a few years. Red/blk/white. Best color combo. Other than being stupid heavy and huge.. And topping out around 145-150, it's a super comfy bike. I rode from Louisville, KY to Tampa in one day and could still walk afterwards. The reg/rec like to die a lot. And cam chain tensioner. Best to mod it to get rid of the rattle. Very solid bike though.

I used to ride dirtbikes with my step dad back when i was a young teen. I'm taking my MSF course this weekend, and I want to get a drz400 after I pass. How much hooning can you do on a drz compared to a crf125? I don't expect to do 5 foot jumps on it, but is the suspension good enough to do some fast pace trail riding and moderate jumps? It looks to be 120 pounds heavier so it seems like it would be abit harder to hoon about on.
>>
>>14988797
Depends, do you do single trails or more open trails?

drz is fine on open trails but about 30kg too heavy for single trails.
>>
>>14988749
YCC-I? What's that? And the Yamaha are second choices I'm hoping to look at the 636 zx6r that was my first link. I'm wondering about the jumper mod? He said is installed and how I'll do with altered gearing being that it's my first Supersport. Alternatively; would an 08 r6 be pretty comparable to the 09 zx? I've test ridden an older r6 and 636 kawi along with daytona 675 which were great but out of my price range. Really didn't enjoy the gsxr or cbr I've ridden as much

idk, two gallons heavier?

3x3 was done when I got it. FMF got all bent up when my neighbor totalled it, then it uncorked itself and lost all the packing on my campus one day, so I replaced it with an MRD and jetted it again.

>why is dbt so anti-ABS?
i didn't understand it for a long time either, but it comes mostly from countries with tiered licensing requirements, many of which require ABS bikes for new motorcyclists. lots of these fuckos ride hard on the brakes to the point where they're enabling the system just for kicks which obviously teaches bad habits.

but most of /dbt/ just hates ABS because it's a meme, and the people who go so far as to actually believe in it really just go from their gut feeling of the meme and walk backwards with the rationalization from there.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with ABS if used properly and responsibly.

I'm fine with better systems that have levels like on the higher end bikes, I mean I've never experienced the 3 level ABS on a 1299 but I'm sure it works as advertised.

Cheap systems that intervene too early/any system that cannot be turned off from the menu/handlebar quickly and easily can go suck a dick imo.

ABS on motorcycles is a whole different creature on motorcycles. In perfect conditions, it's great. But roads are rarely in perfect condition. It has to be a smooth surface for a bike to benefit from ABS.

Why would you remove the electric starter on a bike that you use on the street? On a dualsport a kickstart is redundant and yes unnecessary weight
>>
>>14989316
my only experience with ABS bikes is the budget honda ABS system on the CB400SF and CBR500R and it was terrible, it intervenes at probably 70-80% of your total possible braking force (vic cb 400 will back me up here, he has a non ABS and has ridden an ABS version too).

I have 0% doubt I could outbrake that ABS system, 0%.

Locking up the front is not even a very big deal, if you're aware of the possibility it could happen it's very easy to deal with in a straight line.
>>
>>14989326
>Why would you remove the electric starter on a bike that you use on the street?

I have an almost 15 year old cheap shit car with primitive ABS and it's pretty ghetto. Eearly ABS effectiveness is more at a "you might still be able to steer" level rather than actually making you stop faster. It can even be worse if the system is too chickenshit on low grip surfaces.

The ABS on say the low end Hondas is from what I've seen pretty similar to that, but I would think that pulsating bullshit would be a lot scarier on a bike where upsetting the balance will drop you on your face.

In general bike electronics are just less developed, anyways. There's still recent street bikes with carbs for fuck's sake.

If you have any experience on 2 wheels then you should be fine on an FZ6. Take the MSF course beforehand though. The experience there should teach you a bit, but in terms of actual riding it's fine for a beginner.

well don't be a faggot and buy a 250. IF you must buy a street bike buy something like that FZ6, fast enough to not get bored.

Still tho, everyone should learn to ride on dirt.

I don't really have a good place to use a dirt bike. My family has a cabin but I don't make it up there often.

Are the 500cc bikes the cutoff between the docile bikes and more serious?

I just went to make a caffeine and niggoteeine run and some yellow Kia box car cuts me off by 2 foot merging. Turns out we both stopped 4 blocks up at the same convenience store. I pull next to him and ask if he drunk, I'm still pretty pissed but calm. Fucking green haired kid totally disarmed me. He was apologetic and shit. I thanked him for at least using his turn signal at the last minute. It gave me probably a another foot to react.

>I don't really have a good place to use a dirt bike
The point of having a dirt bike is so you can do skids and wheelies and shit without worrying about scratching up all those nice plastics and denting up that nice shaped gas tank and breaking all that shit looping out. If you want to go fast, dirt bikes are literally the best way to start.

>are the 500cc bikes the cutoff
Not really. It depends more on what the bikes are made for. There's bikes that are 1300ccs and slower in a straight line than 600cc bikes. It depends on the bikes purpose. supersports are obviously much more touchy and powerful than a touring bike, which is meant to have a more docile powerband and be easy to putt around on. It's just up to preference and what you want to do on 2 wheels. Some of us like to cruise, some of us like to go fast, and some of us like to hit trails.

They honestly are absolutely amazing city & <110mph bikes. I don't think I will ever sell this thing, if I do it will be replaced with a lower mileage example. There is something about an air cooled 1200cc shaking you to death while keeping up with big bikes that is exhilarating. Short gears also means lots of shifting which is entertaining itself.

600+ sporty looking bikes are generally supersports. As far as naked bikes go they're all basically set up to do the same thing and handle in a generally forgiving manner. The only difference there for displacement is just the amount of power they throw down.

Get the XB12. You can get it in the SCG (XB9 size frame) if you want small. XB9 is pretty weak.

The Buell 1200CC thunderstorm is plenty fast. Under 110mph you will pull on 600cc bikes and keep up with liter bikes (less the crazy new stuff). Above those speeds obviously it falls on its face. Trust me kit kat, you would be entertained for a few years. Shit is pretty much bulletproof too

The 1125 is larger (size of my XB12SS extendend frame/swingarm) and they are rife with problems (09+ electrical hell) and are not low maintenance like the XB series (hydraulic lifters, etc.)

I've toyed around the idea of buying one but I've decided buying a liter bike is a better use of funds. While any hole in the wall harley shop can fix the early buells the rotax is another story. Still cool bikes and way faster than the XBs (gsxr 750 power) but they lose so much character it kinda kills it for me.
>>
>>14989781
But I will say I have the ZTL2 front caliper and the 1125CR clubman bars so I am splitting the difference. The rotax is just not as endearing imo.

just signed up for my license, in the process of assembling some gear now.

That helmet with the audio set would cost aroun 900 bucks, that seems a bit high.
Don't a microphone either, just the speakers.

it would be easier and cheaper to buy a helmet and bluetooth separately.
Schubert c3 pro is probably the quietest front flip helmet on the market, thats why I mentioned it

my mate uses cheap 25GBP bluetooth bought from ebay, and he's happy with it
