Dirt Bikes are to Motorcycles what you're waiter in a middling Los Angelas restaurant is to being an Actor.
>>14983295
As bland and safe as possible. It'd run forever, but the performance would be middling.
>>14983276
I haven't been a fan of modern motorcycle styling in general, honestly. There have been some amazing machines made, but the looks don't do much for me. That's part of the reason I want an old Katana or FJ1200, a 944S2, 968S4, 89 EscortGT, FieroGT, etc.
>>14983295
Boring
>>14983290
The snake frame was pretty much the only real iconic thing about the bike.
No other motorcycle seems as long and narrow in the front than an SV650 with no belly pan.
>>14983295
the same as all the other japanese motorcycles: overly angular, homogeneous, and utterly boring.
>>14983310
Look at a VFR or a Panigale and tell me they aren't utterly beautiful

>>14983331
I bet that thing would be a shitload of fun.
>>14983327
>Panigale
Better, but there's more symmetry; it's not a cyclops. It does look front-heavy since the tail is so clipped in addition to the front fairing design.
Guys, do you listen music while riding?
Is so, what kind of music?
>>14983337
i think there's some interesting thematic synchronicity between different quadrants of the bike, but overall it's just a fat, ugly piece of shit

Its plexiglass, and its about as good of an idea as using any plastic tank i guess.

basically the japanese motorcycle laws changed in 1996 (the cbr250rr aka the Mc22 stopped being built the same year).
In 1994 they put power limits on them (hence why the MC22's before and after 1994 have 5hp difference in peak power).
In 1996 they removed the 250cc license class (making it 125-400) and put a power limit on the 400s (hence why all the jap 400s put out about the same power "officially", just under 40kw,.
So essentially the new laws killed the market for these things overnight, they could now only be ridden by people who had access to 750s and such.
>>14983415
So japan sucks nigger dicks?
>tfw bike is back to the point where revs slightly bounces around at idle
So good. Makes my lil 250 sound mean
>>14983415
Oh, that does explain why they stopped making 250 supersports, since nobody would buy one just to skip out on the inspection.
>>14983415
>tfw you will never buy a brand new ZXR250 or CBR250RR in the early 90's

>>14983437

I know man, it just hit me all at once. It's no longer a theory that leftest crap is going to break society. It actually has broken, we are there., we are living it right now. This is what it feels like when a society absolutely looses its shit. People 400 years from now are going to talk about this specific period we are living through right now. It will have a name like the dark ages, or the enlightenment, or the crusades.
It's fucking surreal.

Actually all I'm seeing is history repeating itself,
we're trying to face economical problems the same way we did in the '30 and at the same time there's a raise in the popularity in the right wing movement because leftist are pushing their shit too hard.
I see interesting times ahead.

pretend it is 1990, you only get that one pic to jack off with. tell yourself a story about her exploits on a bike. tell yourself she likes you, and she will do what you ask. tell yourself you are having sex with her.
do it.
>>14983537
what bike is less important information than how you ride.
>do you go to the track?
>you get hectic
>do you ride in the rain a lot
Most sport touring tyres now are fine with edge grip, I have had no problems with that on angel GT's at kneedown lean angles (pic related, me on the SV)
so you really only need the sport-sport ones if you get really hectic or do track days, or if you just really like having a snappy crisp turn in and want to feel front end stability like no other in which case get some bridgestone S21R's.
will having a leaky set of front forks change my rake and trail?
I feel as though I've lost like an inch or two of suspension height
>tfw you find a comfy couch after 30 miles of bumpy gravel roads
>>14983629
rake and trail are not influenced by suspension travel unless I'm missing something
>>14983638
I assumed that reducing the length of the suspension would result in decreasing the wheelbase of the bike
>>14983638
you are, as suspension compresses you get a decrease of rake and trail as the bike tilts forward.
This is part of why forks have stuck around and options that don't dive under braking haven't supplanted them yet, the compression actually helps you turn in under heavy trail braking.
>>14983647
see how the fork is on an angle forward, when compressed the front wheel is technically moving backward like
>>14983641
said
>>14983641
>>14983653
but wheelbase is no rake nor trail right?
>>14983660
nah mate, rake and trail are directly affected by the wheelbase
MAGIC EVERYWHERE IN THIS BITCH
>>14983660
suspension compressing tilts the bike forward, this gives a steeper rake which will mean a smaller trail
Does your bike just feel better some days compared to others? Went for a ride today and the suspension just felt so much tighter and stable in corners compared to usual.
>>14983686
no my bike feels the same every day.
I feel off some days though, those are the days where you're swearing you got a puncture or something because your rear tyre just doesn't feel right.
The solution is to go to a road you know well and remember by 1/2 way through there's nothing wrong with your bike.
>>14983676
oh right, I forgot the bike tilts forward, I just assumed it just lowered
>0-4 tank bag
>5-9 sidebags
>>14983686
You might be gitting gudder
>>14983733
But it's more expensive
>>14983733
I have a tankbag.
I don't like my tankbag it gets in the way on twisties, the tankbag should be the last item you get.
Get a tailbag before a tankbag.
>>14983743
I'm afraid my bike is too small/doesn't have enough support for side bags without a frame,
and I can't find a frame.
On the other hand I'd like to have something I can rest my weight on, but I don't think I'll be able to mount anything bigger than 15lt because the tank is small.
It's a lose-lose situation.
>>14983733
Topbox or panniers imo.
Bonus points for matching hard panniers.
>>14983686
Yes
Some days it vibrates less, it grips more and doesn't "stutter" when riding on a constant speed.
>>14983748
yeah but you have a pillion seat right? tailbag.
the only things I use my tank bag for these days is picking up takeaway pasta and when I need to hold the camera in it because I'm planning on using it WHILE riding.
>tfw I'll never own a ZX2R
>>14983754
>seat right?
no.
>>14983772
howzabout you just post this goddamn mystery bike from the planet funk and we can make a suggestion then.
I'd rather be a cack-eyed awkward knob than you
For all your perfect teeth and hand jobs
I'd rather be the silently resentful weird one
Than the back-slapped, chest-poking, young gun
For every moment you've had of adolescent bliss
I've spent ten regretting everything I've missed
For every stroke, every goal, every glance and kiss
There were blows, failure, mockery and less
Yet I'd rather be me
You preening dumb tool
You vacuous, confident, ignorant, poor dumb tool
Who wants to be me? No one
You? They sell magazines with how-to guides
People shell out money, jog, get surgery but mainly just dream of the day
They will be more like you
Grass green, never greener, grows over the fence between us
Penis length I am sure is in your favour
Your penis, in fact, is the hero of the this and every other hour
And can access all orifice, stink box, blurter and growler
They didn't break the mould when they made you, mate
That mould was mass produced
Does it grate, that on every corner and every bar, there's you
You have never said one thing completely new
Not thought, one thought not thought before
You Cleo mag, Channel V as seen on TV bore
You school kids' idea of bliss
You teen idol
Package, Construct, Robot, Product, Lackey, Baggage
I'd would rather be me, despite my self-disappointment
I'd would rather be me, because of that disappointment
I'd would rather be me unknown, weak, bent and poor
I'd would rather be me with every mistake and flaw
I'd would rather be me because in the whole universe of us
In the galaxies of people, in the glowing incalculable nimbus
You provide the great system with naught

Most people find 1st gear wheelies hard to control because the throttle is snappy due to short gearing, having a 1st gear too tall to do wheelies smoothly makes no sense at all, especially on a 450.
I don't even know how that would be a thing.

I mean the bike has the power to get up, it's that it doesn't pick up smoothly without getting it to a nice running RPM. It will roll at very low rpms, but I have to be rolling a decent speed to to pick it up fast, otherwise it looks like I'm doing babby power wheelies. I suppose I can rip it up a bit more from the bars but I always have that fear from when I went back.

There were three roads in that WebM.
The main road (the road the bike crossed), the one the bike was on and the one with the van.

>>14984050
>>14984032
Van driver must come to a stop but has right of way. Biker blew the give way sign in the hope the van would stop before proceeding. Both were at entry of the intersection so the rider should have come to a stop and giveway. Basically the van was in the wrong but the bike was in the wronger. Also has right of injury free crash.

No. Van must come to a complete stop, then treat the stop sign as a give way sign, plus give way to the right and give way to the vehicle it is turning right over its path.
Biker only has to give way to vechicles currently in its line of path.

can confirm, vstrom may be heavy but the riding position lends itself to much more agile movement compared to just about any cruiser.

Aprilia SXV. Probably worse reliability than the KTM, but 60 to 70 hp (450 or 550), and about 122kg dry, 140kg wet.
>>14984642
it's perfectly reliable if you don't use it as a DD, it needs a race environment and race maintenance.
>>14984617
MSR ATV Low Bend steel bars. They're the same inner diameter as the stock bars so no modifying the bar ends like you would with aluminum bars. The ATV highs work too, and of course the mids. There's a thread on the forums highlighting what each look like and the modifications you might have to do in order for them to fit(like risers). The new ones are more straight with a 3 in pullback instead of stock 6 in pullback and they're a little lower so I sit forward more but I love them.

A Hercules K125 V1. Former German Army bike, two stroke, 11 weary horsepower, 110kg. I really like the lightness of that thing, the ground clearance, how I could just ride up stairs and stuff like that. I want something newer (not made in 1974), with a bit more power (I've got my A2 now), and with better suspension (dear god 1960's Earles Forks).

An SR400 weighs over 170kg, while we've had several examples of 60+hp bikes ITT that weighed less than 140kg (KTM 690, Aprilia XV 450 and 550, Honda XR650).

I don't know if you can get fairings for it. Checking around the internet might tell you yes or no but I'm thinking not

>should I use a tampon to clean the hard to reach areas of my bike like James May suggests?
>is it bad for my health to spray four spraycans of brake cleaner on dirty components 30cm infront of my face?
>will my engine block fall in two because a small strip of gasget just fell off when I was cleaning the bike?
And these are just some of the retarded questions I had while tinkering with my baiku just now. Should I try to get Retard- and autismbux and spend it all on SEM?
Where do you guys order ridan gear online?
>>14985139
SV good.
yes you can derestrict them very easy, cut a cable going into the ECU and it swaps the maps.
I've ridden a gladius and SV650's and there's no comparison IMO, the SV650 is just a much better bike.
However, at 5k for a new SFV that's stupid good, it's not like it's a potato I just don't like it as much as my gen of the SV (which I paid 4.8k for 2nd hand.
Make sure that's the LAMS SFV650FU they're selling for 5k and not the full powered version though.
