That's ok. You'll find that very few people park parallel to eachother. You can lean your bike to compensate for mirror position as you pass by each car. And if it doesn't look like you can fit, you probably can't (and can filter on the other side of the car).

Well, you'd expect a bike designed for continuous compression/decompression of the suspension should last a while, but I would expect a fork seal/oil change soon, if it's been used as such since 08. My ninja 500r lasted 13 years before I needed to change them, and they only leaked a little before I sold it. It's just a street bike.

Just remember to use ratio and root test for interval of convergence, and take power/Taylor series one part at a time then put the pattern together.
Sequences clicked with me better than integration so that was the test I did the best on.

Auszug aus dem Pressetext:
it stays a fact: the XT, tuned like this, is so strong through the whole powerband like almost no other sinlge. that makes the bike a pleasure to ride and an acceleration beast. And, even if it has the BSM Carbon exhaust, it's even on long tours not annoying [...] (quote ends)

Feels bad man. The time isn't right though, I feel like a bit of a tyre kicker. I have a place to store the bike, but I wouldn't get to ride it very often.
>>14987831
Yeah standard. Apparantly the reusable K&N filters don't like dusty environments so I'd rather play it safe and buy a new one every service interval
>>14985505
The thing I don't get is.
All the knowledge is out there freely available to anybody who wants to know how to ride correctly, all of this would be avoided by some simple education and practice.
How do people not do that? You have a bike, all the free knowledge in the world to ride it right you could ever need and the free will to go and practice that but people...just don't.
>>14985505
What exactly is target fixation?
>>14987849
fixating on a target. particularly with new riders, your bike goes where you look, so don't stare at shit you don't want to hit.
>>14987849
When you take a corner you should always be looking at where you want to go, otherwise you'll end up not making it though a corner.
>>14987856
Your bike will always go exactly where you steer it, it's just that you subconsciously steer where you look.
>>14987870
no shit, autismotron.
>BEEP BOOP OUTPUT AUTISTIC COMMENT
>>14987842
oh, yeah for offroad don't use K&N filters, they're only a good replacement for street or racing.
>>14987873
To people who don't know shit about riding it may come as a surprise that some parts of riding are easier done subconsciously and some can be done deliberately.
Don't underestimate how little new riders know.
>>14987843
>who wants to know how to ride correctly
thing is people think if the government says you can ride it means you can ride. But making a few uturns and a figure 8 doesn't mean you can operate a race machine.
The written and practical exams everywhere should be way harder to avoid simply mistakes like this and like the ninja 300 crash.
>>14987888
fair enough, i assumed you were just splitting hairs for the sake of pedantry. it's a good point, and i've found that over the years the only thing my conscious mind is really doing anymore is higher-level judgment calls. ie. "is that car about to turn?" or "is that gravel in the corner? better slow down." the fewer things you have on your mental stack the better, it lets you concentrate on the things your conscious mind does best.

>>14987843
>and practice.
I've asked this before, how do you practice not target fixing? I mean it seems like once it happens for real it's probably already too late. What do?
>>14988006
you practice by always looking through the corner when you're leaned over. if you really feel the need to practice avoiding obstacles, you can try pretending there's something on the pavement that you need to avoid. like a road imperfection, or a pothole. take note, but don't stare. practice changing your line without taking your eyes off of the apex of the corner, but please do it slowly if you're inexperienced. this is a really good way to get in way over your head.
>>14988006
I don't know about you but I feel it when I'm fixing. I just turn my head the direction I'm turning even if I'm not focusing on anything and then refocus.
>>14988006
>>14988028
We tend to practice operating motorcycles without actively looking anywhere. Ideally you want to look through the corner but once you get the hang of doing it with your peripheral vision it frees you up to do other things. Eg, check mail.
I don't recommend riding this way in general but it's a trick you can try to prevent target fixation.
So I got that ZX-11. Didn't make it home. Seems like the stator and battery are shot. Friends coming to help get it home. But my question is, where the fuck is the reserve fuel switch on this thing? Is there even one?
>>14988048
we're talking about developing good habits for (ostensibly) a brand new rider. full attention and drilling in the basics are the name of the game here.

In that case yes, look where you want to go, don't stare at things you don't want to hit. Etc, etc.
The big one I see new riders do a lot is stare at the ground when doing low speed maneuvers which is a big no no as well.
>>14988055
man did you even fucking ride the thing before you bought it?
>>14987838
>want to make an offer but listing says he will only talk on phone

>>14988115
also i have no clue if there's a reserve switch on that bike but my old EX250 had one (comes from the same era). i forget if it was on the left or right side but it was pretty much centered below the crook of your knee on the side/under the tank. i'm assuming you've looked in the obvious places though.
>>14987994
not really but you can watch this if you want.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuSQ4a5ma-w
>>14988006
I think any riding where you're actively evaluating and thinking about how you're riding counts as practice, you can go to the twisties and think "today I will focus on where I'm looking" or "today I will focus on my lines" body position etc.and that's "practice" to me.
That being said the importance of vision CAN be demonstrated at low speed, peoples u-turns improve dramatically when they put their chin on their shoulder.
Watch japanese motogymkhana riders, they whip their heads around like sprinklers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKfRT6yJquk
So yes I do think vision and avoiding "target fixation" is something you can practice.
MotoGP riders do it too, scott redding says one of the things he practices while riding motocross is looking "Further ahead"
