Last two threads have been ruined by Fur- and Harleyfag respectively, somehow they end up making anime posters seem normal because at least they post bikes

Does anyone know anything about swapping engines in motorcycles? What would be a good resource to learn about custom building?
I kinda want to import a Kawasaki Balius engine to Canada and fit it in my Ninja 250. That might be a good time.
Is there a way to check if the two motorcycle frames are the same? If not, is there an easy way to mount the engine?
>>
>>14216865
I can tell you by looking at a picture that the frames are not the same.

ex250 forums and a lot of custom fabrication is all you're going to get

>>14217067
Kekd. But no, apparently both times the drivers were texting and didn't see the light. With the 750 crash there really shouldn't be a light there, but tough shit. It's right around a curve, and it's one of those shopping Center light for people to get out of the parking lots. The second one is a regular fucking 4 way 8 lane intersection. No excuse for the driver and he was being a fucking dick about it too. We are the opposite of slam on the brakes. On a motorcycle we know that we can stop much quicker, so we mostly eat lights if they turn yellow or just turn red as we are going through. It's safer that way.

>>14217072

You are exactly right. Late at night after midnight I treat red lights as stop signs and I'm always splitting. Too many drunk Mexicans rear ending people around me.

Well, the project isn't serious yet. It's good to look around and see if it's possible, or easy, before I go ahead with it. If the frames are completely different, then that means different motor mounts. That means fabrication.

You're probably correct. Especially since I'm Canadian, and importing is fairly easy.
But if I get a new bike, I may as well go for a cb400sf. But a 250 that can do 200kph would be awesome.

It's like nobody even cares. Why ride sportsbikes if you don't want to get better? I still make so many mistakes but I ride better than these people. It boggles my mind that I can be at a level where I'll brake prematurely on corners, make mistakes with my throttle control, fuck up launches, refuse to pin the throttle and make a host of other mistakes yet still ride better than people who should, by every right, be better than my rookie as fuck ass.

who knows, similar story with me here, although there is a very high percentage of people who do like to ride fast around the twisties here too, lot's of practice and self critical thought had me getting my knee down and doing wheelies and stoppies and what not before I got off my red P's here.

It just makes it kind of frustrating when you meet some nice bike friends then you go for a ride to the twisties, and it's not a case of like competing, or trying to "smash dem in da twisties" the speed you want to ride the road at just happens to be much quicker than them and it's like fuck.

Where is my posse of almost equally quick riders?

It's either ride (what feels like) too slow or leave them.

>>14217395
this is usually the response people give for some reason, "hurr durr pissing contest" if you like riding fast.

People can't just accept they like going slower it has to be the other party is WRONG for some reason.
>>
>>14217402
No, I just said that if you want to go fast go on the racetrack.
I know there can always be someone coming the other way, or dirt on the road, or a deer, or any one of hundreds of variables that you have no control over so I always leave myself lots of room for error because I'm not 18 anymore.

oh boy it continues

How about if you want to ride a motorcycle go to a racetrack, there's too many variables on the road to make riding safe there so I don't do it because I'm not 18 anymore.
>>
>>14217436
H2R (310hp) is not street legal
H2 (200hp) is the detuned street legal version
>>
>>14217402
>Where is my posse of almost equally quick riders?

I feel the same way. It's why I'm training my friends to get good. Unfortunately one has convinced himself to get a cruiser, but each to their own. The others are slowly getting faster and faster and it's great. Nothing is more rewarding than watching your friend who has been riding with you since he got his license get quick enough that you can get decent lean on a corner and watch him pop out only a second or so slower than you.

Of course I encourage riding to your own pace with learning friends and I refuse to increase my pace until they are comfortably able to follow me and request I go a bit faster to give them more room to grow.

>>14217395
>>14217432
>>14217444
If you're unable to react to changing road conditions or unable to pick safe lines then you need to slow down. Accept that some people are able to ride faster than you comfortably while still accounting for dirt, wildlife, opposite lane traffic, etc. Usually at least once a ride in my twisties I will need to slow to 20-30kmh to make it through a road bathed in dirt, or to give way to an animal. Not everyone who is faster than you is an idiot who is just waiting to crash.

>>
>>14217485
I agree that a lot of riders ride poorly for the conditions. My initial comment wasn't so much bragging about my skill but questioning their lack of it. Every time you hop on your motorcycle you can die in a hundred different ways. Why wouldn't you want to improve your skill level? I have a lot of fun riding quickly in the twisties and learn a lot from it too. Being able to corner fast and with confidence is a skill that can save a riders neck and has saved mine before. Braking effectively, proper throttle control, body position, etc. are all skills that in an emergency situation may be put into play and could cause extremely different results depending on your mastery of it. If I didn't want to commit to doing the best I possibly can, I wouldn't ride a bike.

ay lmao
>>
>>14218450
maybe a honda CB-1
>>
>>14218474
at that point though, gear won't save you.
>>
>>14218305
Do you have any facts to back that up?
>>
>>14218483
uh yes
it doesn't mean full on swerve into you crash you off the road or rearend you with 120mph

it's enough to touch lightly, lowside and slide across the asphalt. In that case you want gear or you gonna cry because your skin is gone

the force on a vehicle when stopping is:

F = ma

Where F is the force on the vehicle, m is its mass and a is the acceleration (negative in this case).
Next, that force is applied to the tires via traction as follows:

F = μW

Where W is the weight of the vehicle, and μ is the coefficient of friction.
The weight of the vehicle is its mass, m, times the gravitational force, g, so:

F = μmg

The maximum stopping force that can be applied is the maximum frictional force that the tires can cope with, so:

ma = μmg

What all this shows is that we can cancel the use of the variable m as it appears on both sides of the equation. In simple terms, it means that mass has no bearing whatsoever on stopping distances. The equation to thus show the maximum possible deceleration is

a = μg

So (negative) acceleration equals the coefficient of friction of the tires, multiplied by the gravitational force.

So, that light bike you have? When it comes to braking, it’s irrelevant. It’s down to the tires. And because a car has four of them instead of two (and they’re wider), it points towards a car being able to stop quicker. So, cars stop faster than motorcycles. Case closed.

Thanks for lecturing me on grade 11 physics.
I am saying that bald all seasons have such garbage coefficient of frictions that even if the brakes were good (which they aren't with 15-y-o brake fluid) the civic wouldn't stop quickly.

No problem but it sitll seems you didn't understand it. Doesn't get simpler than that though, sorry
