Realistically you'd be looking at closer to 6.5 than 8.5. The only advantage yours has is the brakes even then it doesn't have ABS.

>>
>>14042277
Alright that bike then but those are probably 'the' piston regulated motorcycle calipers on the market. Everyone else uses valve systems.

On a valve system the stopping power of an ABS bike will be the same but with the benefits of ABS. The only time it'll ever actually kick in is if you were going to lose it anyway.

There's pretty much no reason to opt out of having ABS.

Sure there is, if you live somewhere that nice weather is more common than a rainy day you simply do not bother riding your bike on wet days so no need for ABS.
I would rather my brake calipers have extra room for more stopping power in the dry than less room so they simply can not lock up in the wet, thats all, i am not trying to say ABS is viewed as a bad thing where you come from.

>>
>>14042331
>I would rather my brake calipers have extra room for more stopping power in the dry than less room so they simply can not lock up in the wet
That Honda system is pretty much the only brake on the market that has the extra piston to operate the ABS. Everyone else uses valves to do it. They don't add much size to the caliper at all.

The second part of your post doesn't make sense. Simply can not lock up in the wet? ABS doesn't detract from stopping power. You can also lock any brake if you grab it hard and fast enough. Bigger brakes are for dissipating heat.

Either way it's becoming standard on motorcycles now.

>>14042337
They don't use it because it's against the rules in MotoGP. It keeps braking control a factor that's up to rider skill. It also keeps the bikes weight down.
>>
>>14042337
MotoGP riders ride on perfectly smooth tarmac with no gravel to worry about. They're also the best riders in the world and spend hours upon hours practicing every corner on every racetrack for days. And even if they wanted ABS, it's banned
>>
>>14042336
>an extra piston in each brake rotor.
And not really, if there is a patch of gravel on the road and you slam your brakes on when you hit it you are going to crash no matter what brakes you have.
If you are going around a corner you are supposed to counter steer and then use the brakes once the bike is in a level position...

Just sayin..
>>
>>14042342

Not him but extra pistons aren't really about stopping power past a certain point. I'll use six piston brakes as an example. They aren't there to increase stopping power. It's so they could make the disc smaller and reduce rotating mass.

Either way on a valve ABS system there's no reason you couldn't add pistons and have the ABS system.

Like >>14042338 said bigger brakes are there to help with heat more so than stopping power.

>They don't use it because it's against the rules in MotoGP. It keeps braking control a factor that's up to rider skill. It also keeps the bikes weight down.

>needing traction control
I don't have traction control on my bike. These MotoGP noobs can fuck right off if they can't even control their power.

>modern ABS is only a few kilos
And a modern motogp bike is only a hundred and few kilos. A 3kg ABS system is actually a pretty significant difference on a bike that only weighs 120 or so kilograms, particularly if it won't be of any use because of the controlled environment and muscle memory motogp riders have.
>>
>>14042368

>particularly if it won't be of any use because of the controlled environment and muscle memory motogp riders have.

What you mean to say is the ability to actually control your braking because ABS is complete and utter dogshit.

Having safety systems on road bikes makes even more sense. You can practice emergency braking all you want but when a car pulls out in front of you that ABS is going to be invaluable.

MotoGP riders don't have to worry about old Miss Daisy pulling her station wagon out in front of them while coming down the straight away.

>>
>>14042443
I guarantee if you're a shit rider, as evidenced by needing ABS and a stubborn outright refusal to learn then you will simply meet your demise in another way.

There isn't an automated system to protect you from everything and even ABS can go wrong retard.
>>
>>14042436
I've never owned a bike with ABS. I ride motorcycles for work. Either way this is my second time responding to you here and I'm not doing anymore. This bait is too obvious.

"hipster" bikes can be cool.

Only autistic faggots don't like street fighters and cafe racers (when done well and proper).

Keeping a CB or some other more sit up style bike stock is the equivalent of wearing autism shoes.

Anon is just trolling, there's no way he seriously believes that a fallback emergency braking system is a bad thing unless he's just being an edgy parrot.

If you're a good rider with ABS you'd likely never ever notice it because you'd brake properly

If you're a new rider with ABS you, theoretically, would practice until you didn't need it but either rider could end up in a bad situation and ABS could end up helping. It's not that heavy, anyone who complains about the weight is the equivalent of Nut'n'Fancy-tier "muh ounces, muh grams!" shaving micrometers of metal off of his dust cover to make his AR "SUPER LIGHT TACTICAL."

yuro question here:
has anyone with their A2 licence limited their bike to be under the horsepower limit for insurance purposes etc and subsequently removed the limiter?
Here in bongland I think you dont have to prove you're on a bike thats limited to under 44(?) hp but if the police have reason to believe you are on an unlimited bike they can confiscate the it and put it on a dyno to test hp? Obviously at that point you'd be pretty fooked as you'd have been riding without valid insurance and technically without a license too, but assuming you dont ride like a tard and dont get caught, you should be alright? Thoughts?
>>
>>14042466
More or less. I ride on my commute, all day at work, and anytime I decide to go anywhere. I'd say my road experience is right up there. Shit happens to every rider.

>>14042473
>ABS brakes are great for wet weather riding
Of course, but there's pretty much no reason not to have it when you really get into it, you know?

>The weight thing is stupid
For the road yeah, it's pretty irrelevant. At that level of racing it makes sense though. As far as your bike goes, remember that yours also has bigger discs. Not a huge difference, but there'd be some extra weight from that.

I know what everyone'll say about this.... but Supposedly a 1999 gsr600 srad is just under double the hp you're allowed at a2 and thus is valid for restriction. I just reckon that for me, the reality of riding will end up being a fair weather thing only and I don't even need powered transport to get to college so I would perhaps be riding at the weekends during the summer so that at least reduces chances of being stopped. Also thought about limiting a bandit 600, that would probably be a better choice

So you've been riding a 125 prior and now think you're ready for a 600 sportbike?

At any rate there are a lot of smaller sport bikes out there that only need minor restrictions i.e honda vfr 400 suzuki gsxr 400 so it wouldn't be a big deal. Or you could go down the route of a faired twin cylinder like gs500 gpz/ex500 hondas cb500 and so on.

are routine checks even a thing? I've been driving hektic in a golf for like 2.5 years now and never been stopped. It may be suspicious but you'd be within your rights to get a 600 SS and limit it, and unless they really believe it's unlimited they're not gonna get it towed surely

usually the technically inclined people are the ones to watch out for because they will know how to lie in a way which will hide issues of a vehicle

Though the fact it's been sitting for 8 months and doesn't idle properly is worrying

>>
>>14042950

>>14042954
It's more that the across has the compartment which is super handy.
I also kind of want something that isn't perfect so I can learn on it, and i'll probably buy something nicer once i'm on my full license.

Buy a tent and live in downtown L.A.

Anywhere that is cheap to live will have bad paying, shitty jobs and you will have to work three of them to support your meth and butane addiction.
>>
>>14042963
If it has never been dropped get it after looking through all the other 250's on gumtree and bike sales.
Thats dropped bike price it seems.
>>
>>14043001
How bad is it for a bike to be dropped though?
>>
>>14043008
Honestly?
If it doesnt actually damage the engine case it isnt bad for anything other than cosmetic things.
>>
>>14043008
I mean that i'll probably drop it anyway, so why fuss about a dropped bike.
I'll probably sell it in a bit to upgrade anyway, just need something to learn on
>>
>>14043015
yeah thats it, it just means you get a cheaper bike in the end. some people are just really anal about those things.

Yeah I'm taking small rides but it's breddy cold/humid/foggy/icy roads so it's not really enjoyable as the near tougey is dangerous as fuck during winter.

Also have no cold gear yet, I can bear it everywhere bar the hands, yesterday after 30 min it felt like nails were separating from the fingers.
