what's a good GoPro that doesn't cost a shit load of money? budget is around 400+ euro dont really wanna hit 500.

I will use it for riding and for my business so the 4K gopro black 4 seems good I guess? anyone has experience with it
>>
Just got a 10l tank bag. What do you put in yours, /dbt/? So far I have some basic tools, a first aid kit, chest mount for my gopro and spare pair of gloves. I'm thinking I need stuff like spark plugs too

I just use it when I absolutely need to, so water for long tours or stuff for work. Just looks silly on a sportsbike and it's not meant to be practical anyway.

HERO4 Session is pretty great and cheap. Shoots in 1080p, (30fps) 960p,(60fps) and 720p(100fps), has a 2 hour recording life, and can connect to your phone with the app. They had a black friday deal for it a bit ago where it came free with a 32gb micro SD, head mount and chest mount as well as the usual mounts it includes. I nabbed that shit fast.

My bike doesn't have a luggage rack and it's so old that outside of having someone custom make the rack for me, there are no options for an aftermarket one. Right now I'm rocking a backpack/tank bag combo but for longer rides or camping I probably ought to invest in some soft luggage

>so the Black 4 beats those?

Yes, if you're an absolute quality fag like me, however, unless you're always shooting ProTune and regularly shooting 4k, I'd suggest the Silver is more useful because it's cheaper and has a built in screen (you can get the LCD bacpac but that adds to the cost). IMO, nothing beats a GoPro for action camera image quality.

It was supposed to be around 60 today in Des Moines. It was not. It was 40 when I started and about 48 at max. Thankfully, the new Cortech jacket I bought was mostly warm. I should've had either a longsleeve over my t-shirt or one of my XGO shirts as a layer. Also, the Cortech Scarab winter gloves are really more like fall gloves; had to buy some thin gloves as a liner when I got back to civilization.

Also, wet bricks as a road surface in downtown areas are fun and spoopy all at once. And I need to get a helmet that fogs less, jeebus.

Fair enough, I almost ended up buying one after discovering how well the tank fits my legs, not even an S1000RR fits as comfortably but I need a commuter at the moment and don't have space for a second bike. That's my one hangup with V4s, you get two cylinders between your ankles so you bake in hot weather. Even the comparatively detuned VFR1200 will cook you to shit from the heat it spits out.

If you're tellytubby mounting, the Session sort of makes sense, if you're chin mounting (the best way to mount a camera) the difference isn't as large but you do suffer reduced quality from the poorer lens than the Silver or Black. No microphone attached to the camera is going to record anything more than wind. You want a separate microphone near the engine or inside the helmet.

>>14031780
You could always get it sprayed by a local paint shop. I think black would look better than the wrong green.
>>
>>14031781
use a mic that goes into your helmet then.

most of the time you see those gopro motorcycle videos with shitty music is because if they played the gopro audio it would be all wind noise
>>
>>14031755
make sure your speed sensor is working properly. Make sure it is getting consistent power (wired directly to battery)
>>
>>14031781
>I'd like to hear more than wind

That's basically all you will get, without using an external mic.

My hero4 silver using the skeleton door does alright with sound at speed but it is still gonna have a heap of wind noise.
>>
>>14031781
>Is audio ok at highway speed? I'd like to hear more than wind
if you dont want wind you need to get an external mic and put it out of the wind.
>>
>>14031772
I figure that's it. I need to re do the wiring behind the little DR fairing anyway.

>>14031802
The speed sensor works rather well. It's probably a power wire/connection that's the issue. I need to waterproof everything anyway.

Stiffer than normal suspension.
The stairs are longer than normal stairs so I have to take every bump individually instead of riding across the corners.
Leaning forward and not back.

Beginner bike question:

Between a 2012 Ninja 250r and a 2013 CBR250 which would haul a 270lb fatass like myself around more comfortably?

My understanding is that the Ninja will preform a bit more comfortably at interstate speeds but that the CBR will be more grunty at lower speeds.

I'm also on the look out for something in the 500cc-650cc range but 250s are just more common in my area.

Brother you're confusing him with "turborider". Ghostrider retired because of piracy before anything serious happened. They made a loss of 50.000 pounds with the last movie and they couldn't afford to keep that up.

Yeah, I understand that something with more engine would be ideal but finding one that'd fit my budget that wasn't someone's "custom" job or was at least taken care of is a lot harder then finding a low mileage 250 in my area. I'm also looking for something with a less aggressive posture then the abused-by-army-privates supersports that show up.

Again, finding one that wasn't someones abortive attempt at a bobber/caferacer/salvagerepair and within my budget, while possible, seems to be taking more time then I had hoped.

I'm thinking about getting my first bike, I don't have the money yet but im trying to decide which one I want to get. Only requirement is that it has to be inexpensive like maximum 5-6k

I've only ridden a dirt bike before but I loved it and I really want to own a real bike. If anyone could help me decide I'd appreciate it

Its okay, we all are. But that's why you have your bike and why I'm looking for one. Maybe one day we will both be comfortable with ourselves and our lots in life that we can allow something more to bloom. But right now I'm already making one big life decision in getting a motorcyle, I don't think I could handle another large decision at the same time.

Maybe one day anon, but for now you must remain anon. Be strong.

Hmm, let's see... The sun got to the plastic brake fluid reservoir, had to replace it. There's a small oil leak from a bolt on the back of the head, have to clean the engine at least monthly.

The tach did shit itself, so there's that. I bought an electronic replacement, havn't installed it yet. I updated the regulator, with one from a quad for $5, but that was more pre-emptive.

Other than that, it's been good.

I had a 1982 cb450 that was fine for like a year and then stuff started to break and needed to be replace, like the cylinder gasket, tacho cables and the electrical system was corroded and the bike would blow the fuses and more shit, then i bought a GS500 with 1200 milles, had electrical problems and sold it in less than a month, then i bought a Maxin 700 5 valve and it was the shit , but i didnt liked cruisers and the story goes on for like 9 or 10 more bikes.

I bought my first street bike, an 86 FJ1200. I haven't done anything but regular maintenance to it and it still runs strong to redline in 5th. It's not even in particularly nice looking shape, plastics are pretty shit from sitting in the sun for many years, but it's still fast, and still starts every time I want to ride it. I did over 8000 miles on it the first year I had it. You just have to pick the right ones.

I did it guys, I bought my first bike! It's a CB-1 in pretty damn good condition and it runs like a champ. I picked up supplies to do an oil change earlier today and was planning on sparkplugs but the guy at orileys gave me the wrong ones. I'm going to change the coolant and break fluid next week but what are some other basic maintenance stuff I need to do? I think cleaning/lubing the chain is one of them?

Oh yea and clutchless shifting is a piece of cake. Whoever says it grenades your transmission is just doing it severely wrong.

I've had it since 1983. Bought it new. Yes, there's been plenty of consumables, tach and speedo cables, tires, air cleaner foam, etc. I expect to upgrade the headlight 'cause the bulbs are no longer available.

I've had bikes where everything has gone wrong... A DOHC honda 750 with non-rebuildable carbs and carbon brushes in the alternator, that bike was nothing but trouble. I had a Kawi triple that burst into flames while I was riding it, unpleasent. But this bike has been good, and lots of other people find this model to be reliable. Hell, Suzuki still makes it as the GS500 Memebike.

And clutchless shifting can damage engaging dogs, bend shifting forks or shatter bearings if you do it wrong and damage in the gear box can lead to catastrophic failure in the engine considering the gear box and engine share oil.
Most people just do not think the risk is worth gaining 0.1 of a second on a gear shift lol

Yes percentages being what they are there are more old bikes that are neglected/thrashed but just being an old bke does not mean it's shit. From what I'm seeing the inner side of the gears all look fine and that's where the dog gears are going to clash. Maybe you got unlucky and had casting impurities in your gear?

Just suck his dick already, just like you did with kkk, faggot!

Not my gear box was from a thread on a forum discussing the pros and cons of changing gears without a clutch.
>>
>>14033754
I have no idea who you are talking about.

Read >>14033646 if he did that shift without his clutch he wouldn't be "clutchless shifting", he'd be smashing up a gear. If he clutchless shifted he wouldn't have slipped the gear at all.

Because it's bitchin and is actually involved. Unlike streetfighters which are just sportbikes that have been crashed and have eBay headlights on them

Keyboard warrior customfag reporting

Normally on a build with a rear tire approximately 30-50mm wider then the stock configuration, this thing called a jackshaft is used to move the chain to the desired location without having to move the engine/transmission around in the frame, which is bad for all kinds of really obvious reasons. Far as I can tell, drag racers used to to jimmy wider tires onto their bikes, and when the fat-tire craze kicked off, it became universally adopted by everyone with billet chrome and tribal flames. Pic related shows that if one felt the need, you could convert your bike to a right-side drive as opposed to a left (for better weight distribution, more of a cruiser thing with the heavy transmission hanging off the side fucking up your balanced with the new fatty on the back), or simply use it to kick the chain a few inches out (which these builders also did - that looks like a older Triumph engine, and those bikes did NOT have a lot of space left over to begin with.)

If you look at a lot of the late-90s to mid-2000's factory choppers (such as Big Bear, Ironhorse, Bourget, etc), you will see that nearly all of them are running a jackshaft to keep that bike somewhat upright as the thick-wall tubing and heavy-duty transmissions needed to keep a 120ci+ engine attached to the bike can fuck up the balance of a bike like you wouldn't believe, with some horror stories of 150-200lbs of offset weight on some bikes that thought they could do without springing for the jack, and ended up needing to be completely redone just to stay up on the kickstand.

Pretty neat but I wonder what the bearings look like after a few thousand miles.
