>Swiss authorities arrested two Syrians in Geneva on Friday who had traces of explosives in their vehicle, according to Swiss media.
>The Tribune, Geneva’s daily newspaper, didn’t provide additional details on the men who were apprehended and said it was unclear whether it was connected to the heightened security alert authorities had called for.
>Geneva was placed on high alert this week after a CIA tip warning of a possible planned attack on the city. U.S. officials had urged Americans who were in Switzerland to be vigilant.
>According to NBC News, Switzerland's public prosecutor said authorities were looking for suspects linked to al Qaeda and the Islamic State.
>“In light of the international and national investigation that followed the attacks in Paris, the Police Department in Geneva is actively searching for several individuals under the guidance of the Federal Intelligence Services,” the city’s security department said Thursday in a statement.
>Just last month, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for terror attacks in Paris that killed more than 130 people. The known pepetrators of those killings, however, were all citizens of European countries.

A Catholic priest swiped collection-plate donations to pay for drug-fueled sex romps with a heavily muscled S&M “master,” a new lawsuit charges.
Parishioners claim the Rev. Peter Miqueli has stolen at least $1million since 2003 while leading churches on Roosevelt Island and in The Bronx, where he is currently pastor of St. Frances de Chantal in Throggs Neck.
Their suit alleges he used the money to act out unholy fantasies as a sexual “slave,” blowing $1,000 at a time on bondage-and-discipline sessions where a “homosexual sex ‘master’” — identified in court papers as Keith Crist — “would force Father Miqueli to drink Keith Crist’s urine.”
Miqueli also spent $60,000 in 2012 alone for “illicit and prescription drugs” he used with Crist, bought a $264,000 home in Brick, NJ, and paid $1,075.50 a month for his master’s East Harlem apartment, court papers say.
Plaintiffs’ lawyer Michael G. Dowd also said that Miqueli at one point had Crist living in the rectory at St. Frances de Chantal but that Crist had since been kicked out.
The suit, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday, also charges that the Archdiocese of New York and Cardinal Timothy Dolan knew about Miqueli’s “illegal scheme” and did nothing to keep it from growing into “the monster it is today.”
http://nypost.com/2015/12/10/priest-paid-his-male-sex-master-from-collection-plate-lawsuit/
“This lawsuit seeks to finally put an end to this truly sinful conduct so that St. Frances de Chantal parish can regain the strength, spirituality and faith it once had before Father Miqueli arrived,” the court papers say.
The suit says that during the summer of 2014, maintenance workers at St. Frances de Chantal saw “several unstacked piles of cash, each approximately one foot high, scattered throughout Father Miqueli’s rectory residence.”
In addition to skimming $20 bills from the collection plate there, Miqueli ripped off money raised to buy a new pipe organ at his former church, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini on Roosevelt Island, according to the suit.
He also put Crist in charge of the Cabrini thrift shop, where Miqueli “misappropriated and diverted money ... for his own personal use” and destroyed financial records to cover up the theft, the suit says.
An on-and-off girlfriend of Crist’s, Tatyana Gudin, told The Post that the hulking bodybuilder once hurt his knees while having sex with Miqueli in a bathtub.
The suit seeks unspecified damages from Miqueli, Crist, Dolan and the archdiocese on grounds that include negligent supervision, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and unjust enrichment.
Dowd said, “I feel really bad for the parishioners,” and he estimated that Miqueli “had to have taken $1 million from each parish.”
“We’ve done a lot of homework. This is a bad guy,” Dowd said.
He added, “The thing that’s really amazing to me is: How could this guy be acting this way for nine years or so and the archdiocese does nothing?”
A spokesman for the archdiocese said it “has ... taken these allegations seriously and has been investigating them.”
Crist hung up on a reporter, and Miqueli declined to answer a call through a church receptionist.

"Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the Sinaloa cartel boss and world's most wanted drug lord, has threatened ISIS with retaliation if it continues to destroy his drug shipments to the Middle East that go through the terror group's "caliphate."
"I pity the next son of a whore who tries to interfere with the business of the Sinaloa cartel. I will have their hearts and tongues torn from them," El Chapo reportedly wrote ISIS in an e-mail leaked to a Mexican blogger with ties to the cartel.
The encrypted e-mail, was sent directly to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to cartelblog.com.
El Chapo has been in hiding since escaping Mexican jail earlier this year. It's believed he sent the message via his son, who helps run the Sinaloa cartel.
The Middle East, with its excessive oil wealth, is a hot market for cocaine, ecstasy and other party drugs. Several cartels are trying to establish footing there, including the feared Sinaloa cartel, the largest and most powerful in the Western Hemisphere.
And the group has been destroying all shipments found passing through the territory it controls in Iraq and Syria.
That's apparently led to bad blood between the two violent groups.
"You (ISIS) are not soldiers. You are nothing but lowly pus----," reads the e-mail. "Your god cannot save you from the true terror that my men will levy at you if you continue to impact my operation ... My men will destroy you."
It's not likely an empty threat.
In 2010, the cartel recorded the beheading of 36-year-old Hugo Hernandez, whose face was then peeled off and stitched onto a soccer ball as a warning to rivals.
Hernandez' torso was found in one container; his skull, arms and legs were found in another.
http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/12/10/drug-lord-el-chapo-threatens-to-destroy-isis-in-e-mail
I hope Trump gets El Chapo off of the streets as a campaign promise...
That's pretty bad ass
What happened to all the claims that ISIS was working with the cartels to smuggle people in? Was that just scare stories?
Also, I'm legitimately surprised the Sinaloa Cartel reaches to the Middle East. I assumed that if any, there were terror groups distributing drugs there. I mean, the Taliban sells heroin, don't they? Are they not reaching the Middle East?

Shouldn't we be somewhat concerned about this?
This isn't news.
We've known about this for a long time.
Even people who didn't want to believe the "conspiracy theories" got clued in years ago when Edward Snowden publicized his stolen data.
If you're living on the dark side of the moon anyway, why are you concerned about the government stealing your data? They can't reach you there.

Staying sober is a real struggle for alcoholics, and the protagonist of this sad story is no exception. 30-year-old Zhang Rui had been trying to kick the habit for a while, but when all his attempts failed, both he and his family got desperate. After what must have been a serious intervention, he agreed to let his mother chain him by the neck in a room, to prevent him from buying or stealing booze.
Zhang, who is still locked in his attic room in Bengbu, east China, told reporters that he couldn’t think of any other way to stop himself from harming others or drinking himself to death. Despite his poor living conditions, Zhang believes that confining himself is the only way to beat the addiction that has ruined his life. In fact, he wants to stay chained up and locked in there for at least six months, until he no longer feels the need to consume alcohol.
The tiny 10-square-meter space is sparsely furnished, with only a mattress for sleeping, a laptop and a small TV to keep him entertained. He doesn’t even have a toilet – just a bucket and a large bottle of water to keep himself clean. The chain around his neck is four meters long and weighs about 22 lbs, so he can hardly stand up on his own in his current state. It allows him to walk around the room as exercise, but not much else.
According to the reporters who visited him, Zhang used to be a kind and gentle person working as a truck driver, however, all that changed six months ago when he started drinking. He turned so violent and abusive that he lost both his job and his wife and children. Things got so bad at one point that he begged for money on the streets just to be able to buy cheap rice wine. Once drunk, he reportedly had no controls over his actions.
When his family left him, Zhang was devastated, and the misery drove him to the extreme decision of home imprisonment.

Imagine opening the door to your brand new home only to discover it's uninhabitable and a health hazard.
Well that's exactly what happened to a group of new homeowners from Xindeng town in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Their newly-built villas have wires and cables running straight through the middle of them after village committee and utility companies had failed to coordinate their activities, reports The People's Daily Online.

Uninhabitable: The metal electric cables are visible through three rooms on one single floor in a new home
The electricity cables were built before the houses but after the plot was approved for residential development by a local committee.
Sadly the homeowners, most of whom spent their life savings on the villas, only realised the existence of the cables after the land was allocated to them.
They were left with no choice but to build the properties to fit with the cables, hoping the utility companies would remove the wires before the building works completed.
When the group of villagers moved into their new houses in July, they were surprised to see the cables were still existing and they run through the terraced row.
The metal cables run straight through the kitchens, corridors, staircases, the living room and the master bedrooms.
The wires are so thick - some with a diameter of six inches.

I can't on this board OP.
https://www.yahoo.com/politics/it-s-either-trump-or-1317957587198006.html
Hello /news/, I come from /pol/ and have been lurking since the board was created. I have a few questions got you.
1) How many people do you think post on this board
2) How/why does this board have such quality discussion? Is it due to being a text board without flags? How can /pol/ improve their quality of discussions?
>>7856
In my opinion there are only about 20 or 30 regular posters, no more than 50 or 60 at most. If there is a breaking news event that number goes up though.
I'm not sure what can be done with /pol/, but I'm sure opinions here will vary wildly. Personally I think it's become too tinfoil for my tastes lately. Too much flat earth and illuminati BS. I think Hiro needs to make a /tin/foil conspiracy board for these people.
>>7856
> How many people do you think post on this board
God seriously, I can only pick out maybe fifteen. Doesn't mean there aren't more, I'm only basing this on how many unique personalities I interact with.
> How/why does this board have such quality discussion?
It's slower, so it's easier to take time to think out your arguments. A well-thought out post on /pol/ might exist for thirty minutes, and maybe one or two people read it. You never get a response because by the time people have had time to formulate their arguments, the thread has 404'd.
>How can /pol/ improve their quality of discussions?
You probably can't. /pol/ is what it is because there are people who want to post what gets posted there. If you try and reform it into something it's not, those people will have to go elsewhere--- they may end up coming here.
I don't think /pol/ is a bad thing though. It's an intimate look at things people keep hidden in polite society. Some people call it a "dark underbelly" but I think that misunderstands the value of it. It's lives on gut truths, things people know--or think they know--without all the polish, glitz, and virtuous posturing. This is why it's so hilarious.
>7856
It'd help if /pol/ wasn't an echo chamber circlejerk where anything not extremist far right is screamed at until it leaves. /pol/ is just tumblr for psycho ultra conservatives.
>inb4 I go to /pol/ and I am not conservative token post
Then you are a masochist.
The problem with /pol/ is it's a political board that only allows one side of a political argument. Sadly, I've had better more varied political debates on /b/ than I have on /pol/ simply because there were more varied opinions besides "nutjob hillbilly conservative"
>Over the past year or so, Facebook has made increasingly aggressive attempts to chip away at YouTube’s dominance in the world of short Internet videos. It hasn’t made a dent yet, according to one key measure.
>Sandvine, a networking company that reports on which services use the most bandwidth, just published its most recent numbers. YouTube’s share of U.S. Internet activity grew to 17.9 percent, up from 14 percent a year ago. Facebook’s share is only 2.5 percent, down from the 3 percent it claimed a year ago.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-07/facebook-falls-back-in-war-on-youtube
>>7745
The graph is kind of odd.
Like, of course you'll have Netflix at the top because people will stream full movies on it.
Youtube is mostly shorter stuff.
I'm not so sure about the Facebook stuff, but isnt it mostly just very short Vine-style clips?
Its an odd way to measure popularity. It should be click based instead or something.
>>7746
Facebook is stolen Youtube content.
>>7746
Most Facebook vids (any "viral" ones anyway) are quite literally reuploads of Youtube videos, sometimes even by the same uploader. The Youtube ones always have way more views too, despitte it being quicker/easier to share on Facebook, which is the only reason viral Facebook vids are a thing at all.
Youtube is too big, it'll probably always be the go-to for user-created video content.

>Johannesburg - An angry community took matters into their own hands when a group of men attempted to rob and rape women in the Everest informal settlement in Springs on the East Rand on Thursday.
>Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department spokesperson Clifford Shongwe said the community caught nine of the men and burned them to death.
>“The community said that in most cases these thugs did as they pleased. In certain instances they raped women in front of their husbands and children. If anybody intervened they were shot dead,” Shongwe said.
>The men are believed to be from Lesotho.
>According to Shongwe, the local SA Police Service members were biased towards the criminals.
>“The local SAPS is biased towards the thugs as they always get money in a form of bribery from criminals. It has been a trend and norm that SAPS members are usually seen coming to the informal settlement to collect money from criminals,” Shongwe said.
>Gauteng police were not immediately available for comment.

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/12/top-rwanda-genocide-suspect-arrested-drc-151210134442424.html
One of nine top fugitive Rwandan genocide suspects, a former mayor accused of crimes against humanity, has been arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Nations has said.
Ladislas Ntaganzwa is accused of organising "the massacre of thousands of Tutsis at various locations", the UN-backed Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) said in a statement issued on Thursday, a day after the arrest.
"He was also alleged to have orchestrated rape and sexual violence committed against many women," the statement said. No details of his arrest were given.
About 800,000 people - mostly members of the minority Tutsi community - were slaughtered in the 100-days of violence in 1994, largely by ethnic Hutus.
Ntaganzwa, 53, is expected to face trial in Rwanda on nine counts of genocide, crimes against humanity and violating the Geneva Conventions.
Though I doubt many are going to concern themselves with this article, I find it pretty interesting that they've caught this person after such a long time. Apparently the US had a decent bounty for his capture. I doubt we'll hear anything enlightening when he goes to trial, but I feel like the more press cases like these get, the more chance African countries that are willing to, can start to recover from past horrors and prevent further increases in conflict, especially ethnically motivated conflicts.
>>8051
Could I move to Africa and make a killing getting paid for these Bounties? Are there alotta people like him running around, money waiting to be made?
>>8050
so... how true is the official story? It portrays the massacre as one sided, but in reality we only have the word of the winners against no proper record, any attempt at investigation (like sampling those skulls there) is called out as genocide denialism, and the new president in office is US-backed.
Also, which side actually killed the previous president.
I find it very hard to believe that the genocide was so one-sided as the official story goes, and "innocent until proven guilty" only applies to whenever you are not obstructing investigation on the subject.
