Lady was a very different animal from Devilman but I wouldn't call it goofy per se. It had some serious fucked up shit and dramatic moments played completely straight. It was different from Devilman, for better or worse. For starters, it wasn't located on the cold war and that's a huge shift on the tone. Demons were an external threat that could infiltrate into normal people, like commies, but devil beasts born from the depravity of the modern society represented as a twisted version of evolution. look into the context of the fucking story, its obvious that the character is going , its in the period of time that the apocalypse happens and all humans die and violence happens because they are demons and they kill each other to assmilate each other and makes them stronger.

Its all instinct, and then when Devilman reach his mind and tell him that he has a purpose, he assimilate the bigger demon to fight the another big preggo one.
