I can't enjoy the show like this. Everything is just thrown around. It's doesn't feel like it's telling a story. It's like you're just seeing a footage of events and hope the best that you'll "get it" some how.

Started binge watching 00 for the first time today.
Why are the miesters so absolutely DOGSHIT at piloting? They were hand chosen to pilot their gundams, right? Then why does it feel like they would lose to pretty much ANY of the aces (even the unnamed ones) if it wasnt for the suit gap?
Like, its not just that they arent as skilled as the elite aces. They just dont seem like competent pilots period. If you dropped them into pretty much any other gundam show, theyd be dead within an episode or two
Because the original plane was specifically for that technology gap to exist. The pilots themselves wouldn't matter so much, so long as they're "bitchin crazy" to go along with CB's plans.
They do get better, of course.

They've never actually fought on that scale before. Look at the other pilots in the show, they're all squadroned up soldiers with the only real pilots of note being bushido, ali, and that fuccboi char clone ribbons.

How do they seem incompetent? There's a possibility they were chosen based on other factors than piloting, like >>13487823 said maybe its just based on how loyal they are to Veda's plan. Either way their early plans don't typically rely on sheer piloting ability, that's foolish. They rely on the technological gap, and in some instances teamwork.

The combo suits I had in mind were one made from the main cast, and another made from MP Evas (with MP Eva-head dick).
Are the Japanese Transformers seasons any good?
I remember Armada being absolutely shit. Can't say much about the other ones, haven't watched them.

G1: Headmasters is okay, Masterforce is good, haven't seen Victory.
BW: I didn't really enjoy either Neo or BWII, but I suspect that's mainly because they were both RAW.
Armada Trilogy: Armada is mediocre at best, Energon is the worst show in the franchise period, Cybertron is just /okay/.
I never got around to watching Transformers Go!, so I can't comment.

I can vouch for Victory probably bring the best, Master force is good if you aren't butt hurt about Pretenders or human-transformer shit.
Headmasters is REALLY bad if you liked American G1, and only bad if you don't care, it has a lot of ass pulls and dumb decisions. It does feature Six shot an amazing robot ninja though.
Armada is mostly crap until the very end. I would avoid Energon and Cybertron entirely. Go is pretty much crap for crap toys.
Car Robots is the same as Armada but nowhere near as satisfying a finish and way more filler.
I have only seen parts of Beast Wars II and Neosho but it seems okay, just remember it's 90's as fuck but it's moments if budget animation aren't neat as egregious as Armada's.
I know it's Mazinger Z and they didn't aim for consistency in story or characters, but this right here was so completely out of character I had to pause the episode because I couldn't stop laughing so hard.
