What's the viewing order for this? There's a ton of versions of the initial series, then sequels, OVAs, compilation films, remakes, and alternate reality versions.
I just want to get through the "core" series first similiar to 0079>Zeta>ZZ>CCA for Mobile Suit Gundam.

Cowboy Bebop is a show about his journey between being out, and having no choice but to get dragged in. He just couldn't stay away. What had meaning in his life, was the old neighborhood and the people he knew.
Everything else was a detour.

You see, whenever we talk about the characters in a Gundam series, we usually refer to their counterpart in Mobile Suit Gundam. For example, we were talking about how autistic this Amuro (Mikazuki) was, pointing specifically to his fight with Ramba Ral (Crank Zent). It was just a habit that sort of developed over time.
