I was literally just thinking about that when I saw OP's post.
Most people are spared from the horrors of that show, for awhile I was in a hardcore mecha kick, this show is what cured me of it for a long time.
This only made me want a full adaptation of the Devilman manga.

Enma-kun was the last show that was 12 episodes and that was 2011. Dynamic Planning hasn't produced anything in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Well I'm assuming that we're in some kind of post apocalypse if my kid ends up being an illiterate child soldier given my nationality. Given the difficulty of judging morality in such a situation I'd just be proud that my offspring is thriving so effectively in their environment.
Get the fucker committed. If we are in a war torn world then regret hes a child soldier while he saves lives.
Even though it uses heavy CG, it still looks promising.

Pros
- Fairly good fights for CG
- Likeable cast, has their own sense of humour
- Plot is simple and wraps up well
- Overall very solid
Cons
- Plot may be a bit generic
- Cast's humour takes a few episodes to get use to
- Hirai face, if that bothers you
- Overall nothing particularly outstanding

It is CGI heavy, but it does it better than most do. The story and characters is standard stuff, but the characters are endearing enough people stick with it. And the action sequences are surprisingly good.
Judging by the trailer and opening, it seems interesting enough. But many past anime experiences have taught me that looks can be deceiving.

The DLC isn't pay2win, it's half cosmetics, some new classes, and a couple of high level expansion packs (in other words, pay2lose)
There is a ridiculous amount of DLC though

Macross has a far bigger universe, there are several colonies across the universe.
Gundam is fucking trapped on the Earth Sphere. If anything big happens, it is either the Zabi, the Deikun, the Titan reminiscent. That's it. The same fucking players, oh and Bright Noa too.
To escape this same shit Gundam has alternative universes like Wing, 00, AGE. But they are all crap with shitty designs and story. The only good Gundams I saw were from UC.
That's why Macross is superior.
Kawamori could make a new series that happened before the Frontier...

At least as far as UC goes, Amuro and the RX-78 became so publically infamous that the very image of a Gundam type became something like a social meme (not the dumb kind) that was apparently strong enough to last for generations.
I think that gives a great in-universe explanation for why they'd make future machines in the Gundams' image (and often with the similar festive white/blue "roll out" colors the RX-78 just happened to have before being shoe-horned into near non-stop combat.)....

Well I just started Macross. Currently on episode 4 and enjoying it so far.
I had no idea the bad guys were giant aliens and it surprised the shit out of me when I realized the dude who crawled out of that puny looking walker mech was fucking huge. At first I thought perspective was weird.
What am I in for? Any other series like this and 0079? I watched Zeta and didn't like it so much.
Currently on Episode 20 myself. SDF has not so far disappoint, and It's cool to see the show that BattleTech artists drew inspiration (stole?) from. Plus it has a Speed Racer feel to it that I can dig.
Can't wait to watch RoboTech :)

Some things about the epilogue are cool.
I mean, it's kinda like having a sidestory tacked on, in some ways.
I think of it as having a bit of 0083 mixed in with my 0079, if that makes any sense. It's what happens after the finale, and that aspect is interesting.
It's a bit embarrassing to say this but I self inserted into Amuro back when I was watching 0079. I was happy when the little shits on White Base were put in their place and even more so when Hayato died. I was depressed when Tomino killed him. Fuck Tomino for wasting time on worthless characters and then killing this based man

So, I have "marathoned" myself in the last weeks trough all Macross animated material, and I feel a bit depressed by the show.
I always feel everyone and their mom gets screwed even when you think they do not (like movie-Alto).
Is the overall Macross tone depressing for you too?

I recently rewatched Nadia: The Secret of Bluewater and it got me wondering, "Is it possible that Nadia and Evangelion could take place in the same 'universe'?" I mean, both feature pretty OTT mecha stuff as well as ancient aliens. Is there any reference to to the events of nadia, or any reasons why it couldn't be?
